Those days are evergreen. We a group from Tanjore Jaycess went hokanekal. We enjoyed the oil massage and the bath in Falls for 3 days. Almost most of us were married but went as bachelors, leaving behind the family, normal life and other tensions. Yes, we were there in coonoor for 5 years. My father was in defence and was working in Wellington Regiment.My my those were the days! Holidays were spent in Kothagiri in my uncle's house. We cousins used to sneak out to "thodda sala",literally meaning "big forest" a kind of place where no 13 years should go alone or with other stupid 13 years old, and we did! Another place I still love is the trip we had during one of our vacations to thanjaavoor. My husband and me did not know much about south India. We wanted to go to "thirunallaar" and landed in thanjavoor. People gave us the right direction and we took a hired car and went through the roads where they had cut the paddy and had laid out for drying. Wow, beautiful. Anwar, may be you are familiar with this place near Nagapatnam, a small village called "koothoor". On our way back from Thirunallar, we went to this village, because we had one of our best friend's family, who was like a brother to my husband was staying there. The whole village belongs to muslim community and the amount of affection that we got there, I will never get it from anybody else. My cousin has a pass to this 7 star hotel,"Burj Al Arab" becos her husband is some top guy in his company and so she took me there twice. A very beautiful place. They took us on a tour to the suites. Chettiar mess near Clive Hostel was quite good for food!
