� Revamped the penicillin spent broth solvent recovery plant at a total cost of Rs. 10 lakhs (approx.), resulting in a 5% improvement in performance, giving a return on investment within 4 months & a net saving of Rs. 30 lakhs/year in material cost alone
� Redesigned & modified the biological effluent treatment system, resulting in a 20% increase in the flow-through capacity of the existing facility (from 100 m3/day to 120 m3/day), with no increase in treatment cost
� Successfully implemented the water injection technology for boiler fuel (LSHS), resulting in direct saving in fuel cost by 5%, along with the added advantage of increase in boiler thermal efficiency & lowering of environmental pollution due to more efficient fuel combustion
� Successfully developed & fine-tuned manufacturing processes for several antibiotic products (by synthetic as well as fermentation routes) in the pilot plant, such as penicillin G & V, streptomycin, cephalosporin C, gentamicin, aureofungin, hamycin, pyrazinamide, norfloxacine, 6-APA, 7-ADCA, ampicillin, amoxycillin, erythromycin, etc., & established the results by scale-up to the commercial production plant level. Improvements in productivity ranged from 2-5%, resulting in annual returns of Rs. 1.0-1.5 crores.
� Successfully developed new manufacturing technologies for penicillin acylase enzyme immobilization on polymer bead support, resulting in an improvement in enzyme activity, with an almost two-fold increase in the life of the enzyme
