Daughter of an Outlaw Part 2- "The Death of Katie and Ricky" Disclaimer: I do not own Outlaw Star. ------------------------------------------------------------------------ --------- (A picture of Ricky MacDougall) Narrator: Ricky MacDougall, the son of Ron MacDougall and an unknown mother. Recently married to a Miss Katie Starwind, the queen of bounties, as she is called by some. Ricky is the complete opposite of his wife. He's reasonable, responsible, he thinks before he acts, but like her, he's quick with his guns. His ship is the Atlantis and it's identically to his father's Shangri-La. ------------------------------------------------------------------------ --------- (Diana is sitting on the couch in the Starwind & Hawning building on Blue Heaven. Then Gene, Melfina, and Jim walk in.) Gene: Hello home. Diana: Welcome back. Gene: Hey, where's Katie? Diana: You know Katie. She's always some where she's not supposed to be. Melfina: I don't know about you guys, but I'm hungry. Jim: Yeah, space travel makes me hungry. Melfina: I'll go make something. Gene: Okay and I will try to get where Katie is out of Diana. Melfina: Okay. Jim: I'm coming with you. (Melfina and Jim leave into the kitchen.) Gene: So where is Katie? Diana: I don't know. Gene: She still here on Blue Heaven, right? Diana: No, she left for a job on Sentinel III. Gene: What? I know she'll be gone when I get back. Diana: But she's supposed to be here now. The job was over 2 months ago. Gene: What do you mean? Diana: She's missing. I can't even find new bounties on her. (Someone knocks on the door) Gene: I'll get it, but when I get back, you'll tell me all about this job. Diana: Okay. (Gene walks up to the door and opens it) Deliver Guy: Are you Gene Starwind? Gene: That's me. Deliver Guy: I have a package to deliver. Here. (Hands him a small box.) Gene: Thanks. Deliver Guy: You're welcome. (Deliver Guy leaves, and Gene closes the door. He walks to the couch and sits down.) Diana: What's that? Gene: I don't know. Diana: Are you going to open it? Gene: Yeah. (He takes out a pocketknife and opens the box.) (There is a letter on top of some packing popcorn. He takes the letter and reads it) Gene: (in shock) This can't be true. It can't be. Diana: What? Is it about Katie? Gene: Read it for yourself. (hands it to Diana) Diana: (reading out loud) Gene, I hate to tell you this but I just got Katie's ship, the Super Nova, from the Space Forces. It's heavy damage, and I don't know if it can be fixed or not right now. And I looked at the data of the ship and I'm sorry I'm the one to tell you this, Gene. Katie is dead. Died in a fight will the kei pirates. I'm sorry. If you like to see her ship, it's in dock 4. Swanzo. (she starts to cry) I'm so sorry, Gene. It's my fault. I should of have stop her of going. Gene: I not your fault. This is Katie. She will go no matter what. Diana: Then I should of have gone with her. Gene: Then your name will be on this too. (Melfina walks in) Melfina: Dinner is.... What's wrong? Gene: Katie's dead. Melfina: What? This can't be true. I don't believe it. (falls down and cries) (Gene got up from the couch and walks to Melfina. He puts his arms around her.) Melfina: Why? She was my last child left and now they have to take her away too. Gene: It's okay. Melfina: No, it's not. Gene: I know it isn't. I'm just trying to make you feel better. (Jim walks in) Jim: Who died? (Melfina busted into more tears.) Jim: What did I say? Diana: Katie's dead. Jim: That doesn't surprise me. Diana: What! Jim: You seen the bounties on her head, it was bound to happen sooner or later. Melfina: But why does it have to happen now. Jim: Everybody dies. Some sooner than others. I know I will miss her. Diana: We all will. ------------------------------------------------------------------------ --------- (Ricky is sitting in a chair and Katie lying at the end of the bed with a white sheet warp around her looking at Ricky.) Katie: I can't believe we're married. Ricky: Me neither. Katie: So which planet are we going to make our home sweet home. Ricky: I don't know. They're tons of planets out there, besides I don't want to think of this right now. Katie: (sits up) Why? Ricky: (beckons her to came to him with his finger) Come here, Mrs. Katie MacDougall. (Katie gets up with the sheet still around her and walks to Ricky. Then she sits on his lap.) Ricky: Had I told you today that I love you and you're the most beautiful woman in the whole universe. Katie: Yes, but I love to hear it again. Ricky: How about I just do this? (Lean in and kisses her) Katie: That will work. (Ricky picks her up, takes her to the bed, and lay her back on the bed) Katie: I love you Ricky MacDougall. ------------------------------------------------------------------------ --------- (Swanzo and Gene are walking down the hall, then enter a hanger.) Swanzo: That's it. The Super Nova or what left of it. (The Super Nova body frame is somewhat in tack and tons of pieces are all over the grounds.) Gene: Can you repair it? Swanzo: I don't know. It's badly damage and it will cost you a lot. Gene: I don't care. It's the only thing I have left of hers. Besides, Nova can tell me what happened. Swanzo: You can only pay half of the cost, I can do the other half for free. Gene: Thanks. Swanzo: Don't worry about it. It's a favor for her. She was a good friend. She helped me a lot around here. It's the least I can do. Gene: And again I say thanks. I want it exactly like it was. No more, no less. Swanzo: She won't have it any other way. Gene: I will help you. And don't worry I will pay you my entire half. ------------------------------------------------------------------------ --------- (Gene is back at the Starwind & Hawning building. He's on the phone with Fred Lo.) Fred Lo: I want to pay half of it. Gene: That why I was calling you, I want to ask for a loan for it. Fred Lo: No, not a loan. I will pay the other half. It's a gift. You don't have to pay it back. Gene: You don't have to do this. Fred Lo: I know, but she meant a lot to Jr. Gene: Yeah, she did. She meant a lot to a lot of people. You don't know how much mail, calls, and visits I got from people she knew. Fred Lo: It seems like she knew a lot of people. Gene: Yep. She traveled more than I wanted her to do. Fred Lo: She was something. Hey, I got to go. Gene: Bye. (Gene hangs up the phone.) ------------------------------------------------------------------------ --------- (Katie is sitting on a extra seat in the cockpit of the Shangri-La. Ron is sitting at the pilot seat, and Harry is on screen.) Ron: How long does it take to destroy a puny ship? Harry: Don't worry, he will be back soon. Katie: If I know him, he will be coming back any second now. Ron: You don't know him. Katie: Hate to tell you this, he's been telling me everything for the pass 2 years now. Ron: Why do you have to be here? Katie: Because you said so. Ron: I mean why do you have to be in the cockpit? Katie: You don't trust me anywhere else. Harry: She got you there. Katie: I think I beginning to like you, Harry. Ron: (looks at the screen) What's that? Harry zoom in on that dot there. (points at a very small dot on the right side of the planet) Harry: Yes, Ron. (The screen zooms in on the dot. It's Ricky's ship, The Atlantis. It's badly damage, and slowly coming towards them.) Ron: Harry... Harry: Already on it, brother. (The Shangri-La speeds toward the Atlantis.) Ron: (as he turns around) Katie stay... (Katie is not in her seat) Where are you Katie? Harry: Ron, the door is opening. Should I try to shut it? Ron: No, let Katie go. (Outside of the ships, Katie is in a space suit with a jetpack, flying toward a hole in the Atlantis. She goes inside. There is debris everywhere. She goes toward the cockpit. She opens the door and walks inside. The gravity is off and everything is floating exceeding Ricky, who is dead.) Katie: (crying) Ricky no. You can't be dead, you just can't. (Katie goes towards Ricky ands grabs him into her arms.) Katie: (still crying) Where did you have to go? Why? ---Flashback------------------------------------------------------------ (Katie is on the Atlantis is sitting in the pilot's chair, and Ricky pulling her arm to get her out of it) Ricky: Katie, you need to get out. I can't go with you sitting in my seat. Katie: Why do you have to go? Ricky: I will be right back. You won't even notice I'm gone. Katie: But I don't want you to go. Ricky: It not about what you want. My father wants my to go, so I have to go. Katie: You let your father rule your life. I hate to be you. Ricky: I don't want to fight. You know what? Katie: What? Ricky: After this, we can find a place to live, okay? Katie: Okay. (Katie gets out of the chair.) Ricky: Can you give me a kiss before I leave? Katie: If I have to. (Katie puts her arm around him, and starts to kiss him. Then her hand moves to his shirt, and she starts to unbutton it.) Ricky: (pushes her away) I know what you are doing, Katie Starwind MacDougall, and it's not going to work. Katie: Fine, fine. Have it your way? (walks away) ---End of flashback----------------------------------------------------- (Back on the Shangri-La. Katie is in a bedroom packing all of her stuff. Then Ron walks in) Ron: What are you doing? Katie: Packing up so you can take me to the kei pirates. Ron: You don't have to do that. Katie: Why? I bet you want me out of your hair. Ron: I not going to give you over to the pirates. Katie: Why? Ron: It's Ricky's dying wish. I went over his ship's memory, and kei pirates attacked him because we didn't give you over. They gave him on more chance, but he whither die than to hand you over, and he did. I will obey his last request. (Katie runs and hugs Ron) Katie: Thank you, thank you, thank you. Ron: But our agreement is still on. You can't go back to your parents. Besides they think you're dead. Katie: Why do they think that? Ron: I didn't want your parents looking for you. And one more thing, you can't go back to you maiden name. One because you're not a Starwind again more, and two, I don't want my grandchild being one. Katie: Agree. Hey Harry. (A screen on the wall turns on and Harry is on it) Harry: Yes, Katie. Katie: Guess what? Harry: You staying aren't you. Katie: Yep. Ron: Harry set a course to Tarth. Harry: Yes, Ron. ------------------------------------------------------------------------ --------- (On docking bay 4 on Blue Heaven. Gene, Jim, Mikey, and Swanzo are working on the Super Nova) Jim: (walks towards Gene who is putting on the outside of the ship) I think I got Nova up and running. Gene: Great. Jim: Do you want to come in and see what she remembers? Gene: Yeah. (Gene gets down from where he was, and Jim and him walks inside the ship and into the cockpit.) Jim: Nova, are you awake? Nova: Very much. Gene: Can you tell me what happened? Nova: It seems that kei pirates attack, but my secondary backup drive is saying otherwise. Jim: Your secondary backup drive? Nova: Yes. Katie put a second one in me that is hard find and get in if you know it's existed, which only Katie and me know about it. Gene: What does you secondary backup drive say? Nova: It said that the MacDougall did this. Gene: What the MacDougall attacked her? Nova: No. Super Nova was in a hanger bay and Katie hasn't came back for days. Then they came and started tarring up the ship, and Harry came and reprogrammed me to think kei pirates did it and they killed Katie. Gene: So Katie is not dead? Nova: I don't know. I do know that she didn't die while piloting this ship. Jim: But why did the MacDougall do this? Nova: I have no clue. What surprise me the most is that the Ricky MacDougall was there? I remember he was sweet whenever Katie brought him onboard. Gene: What Katie brought a MacDougall on this ship? Nova: They made a cute couple. Gene: Couple? They were going out! Nova: As I recalled, Katie quite liked him. In many entries in her diary, they mention her seeing him. Gene: What else in the Katie's diary does it say about him? Nova: It's not polite to read a girl's diary. Gene: Then why did you read them? Nova: She gave me permission to do so. Gene: I'm her father and I demand you to tell me what is in that diary. Nova: Without the permission of Katie... Gene: Katie is dead! So let me read her diary. Nova: Fine. I will transform it to the pilot's computer. (Gene jumps in the pilot seat) Gene: Can you turn it on? (the computer screen turns on) Thank you. (Gene starts to read Katie's diary) Gene: Wait this can't be. The last entry in this was yesterday. Jim: That can't be. She's dead. Nova: Katie set it up, so she can write in it on any computer. Gene: I need to get her back. (jumps out of the seat) Come on Jim. (Gene followed by Jim runs out the door and to the docking bay) Swanzo: Where're you going? Gene: To get Katie. Swanzo: What? (Gene and Jim runs to Gene's house where Melfina is walking out the door) Melfina: What are you doing back? Gene: We're leaving. Where's Diana? Melfina: In the kitchen. Gene, why are we leaving? Gene: I'll tell you later. Just pack our bags for a long trip. Melfina: Okay. Gene: Jim, get Diana and pack your stuff and meet me at the Outlaw Star. Jim: Okay. (runs off to the kitchen) Melfina: Gene, what's happening? Gene: Katie is alive and we going to find her. Melfina: She's alive, but how do... Gene: I tell you later. Now we need to get going. ------------------------------------------------------------------------ --------- (Katie is at a graveyard at Ricky's tombstone placing flowers at his grave. Then, she starts to cry. Ron walks up to her behind her and places his hand on her shoulder) Ron: It's going to be all right. Katie: How can it be all right? (turns around to see Ron) Ricky is dead and in the grave. I'm all alone now. Ron: You have your child. Katie: (starts to cry even more) My child won't know its father. Ron: (take his left hand and lift Katie's head up with it, so they can see eye to eye. Then he places his right index finger on his lips) Shh. Don't cry. Everything will be okay. (Katie hugs him) Katie: I can't help it. I love him so much, and it hurts so much. Ron: Come on. Let's go back to the ship. Katie: Okay. (turns to see Ricky's grave) Good-bye Ricky. I will always miss you, and I will love you forever. (walks off with Ron) ------------------------------------------------------------------------ ---------
