Under the direction of the Assistant Head of Reference/Periodicals
General Duties:
Provide reference service for all walk-in and telephone patrons as well as for other branches, at the Reference and AV Popular desks and Computer Lab.
Responsible for collection development in the 610-616 section of the collection. Includes reviewing media, making selections, identifying subject gaps and weeding material.
Shelf read reference materials in assigned areas.
Conduct library orientations and tours as required.
Prepare displays of material to market the adult collection.
Serve as a resource person and back-up person on assigned electronic databases. Includes development and updating public handouts to facilitate patron access to electronic databases and other online resources, cross training Southwest Regional staff and cluster staff, and providing customized bibliographic instruction as assigned.
Provide reference services at libraries in the Southwest cluster.
Act as Librarian-in-Charge of the facility when assigned.
Participate in staff development efforts:
Specific Duties:
Conduct public training classes on computer and software usage, and provide training for Regional and cluster library staff on electronic databases and other computer programs.
Create and update training materials to accompany public training sessions and other handouts to facilitate patron use of the lab.
Assist Head of Computer Lab in developing new public training classes and accompanying training materials.
Assist individual patrons using lab services.
Act as an assistant editor of the Southwest Regional Library Reference Training Manual and provide input into training section of Community Technology Center for new librarians and other staff.
