Managing the Job Interview
(May also be listed as: The Physician in Transition: Managing the Job Interview)
by Donald L. Double
Although "physician" is in the title, this book is invaluable to anyone in nearly every profession: librarian, therapist, etc. It's a short book that can be read in 20 minutes. It not only lists many interview questions, but most importantly, the author describes the reasoning behind the question. This helps you realize how the interview question relates to you and your unique experiences. This is why I feel this book is superior to other interview books that merely provide pat answers to common interview questions. Non-members can purchase the book for about $25 or so--it's worth every penny!
Florida Unclaimed Property you or someone you know may have money waiting for you. There is no fee to collect the money, you just have to fill out the paperwork to identify yourself. I did a search on co-workers & friends, & several of them got money back. Be very broad in your search--search by last name and first initial. If you get too many hits, then try last name and first name. Also search by last name and nickname, as well as mis-spelled variations of the first name. Each state has some version of this service online--you'll have to look for it, though. DON'T go with any website that asks you for a fee for this free service from the government.

Don't worry, there are OT jobs out there. After all, there is a crying need for our holistic, caring profession. However, because most people and most employers don't know about OT or what it is, they don't head their job ads with "Wanted, Occupational Therapist." If you look carefully through the newspaper want ads, you'll find at least a dozen positions that are in our scope of practice and clinical background. Wendy Brooks, class of 2000, showed us this in the Sunday edition of the local newspaper. Double-check the ads for nurses & PTs; they sometimes include a listing for an OT in the same ad. I check the "Medical" and "Professional" sections in the Classifieds, as well as look for any separate large ads sprinkled throughout the Classifieds.
Please do the advertisers & human resource staff a favor--when responding to an ad, mention where you found it.
