Welcome
to the most popular part of this website…no, really, I just thought you might
want to know just who the hell is delivering this atrocity of website design to
your browsers.
A
rather misguided guy named Cory Skilton (that's me) created this website, from
memory, towards the end of May 2002. I felt the NQBA needed a place on the web
and, with the permission of a few people, set up the site. It still looks
largely like the one I invented all those weeks ago, which is sad really, but
it fulfils its purpose.
Primarily,
I am still the one who does all updates and changes to the site. I also do the
stats side of the NQBA, rather poorly, but nobody else will do it.
Now,
about me…I am 17 years old, play for the Northern Beaches Avalanches, and
started playing broomball in about February of this year. I first saw the game
when I was about 3 or 4 years old, when my dad Norm was playing it in the old
days, but took no interest. But I decided I'd give it a go, invented a team,
and came down.
To
tell you the truth, I'm fairly garbage at the sport, but I enjoy it. How I find
myself towards the top of most stats is a mystery Sherlock Holmes couldn't
solve on his best day. But I have a hit around all the same.
As
a final note on me, I have been elected as the Publicity Officer of the NQBA.
This is actually an honour for me, although it's really just a glorified
webmaster title, it's still a title. I enjoy working with the site, and will
continue to publicise this silly sport for as long as I play.
Now
on to my fellow webmaster, the apprentice, Ben McCabe. Ben worked on the site
for about a week after he decided/agreed my initial attempt was rubbish, but
then went and broke his thumb trying to be Brett Lee (long story). So, in
truth, he's not really been much help with the site at all. But he rates a
mention nonetheless.
I'd
just like to take this opportunity to thank everyone who's said good things
about the website. I know you're lying through your teeth, but still, an ego
boost through lying is as good as an ego boost through accomplishment. At the
moment, I have a good friend working on a new, more professional website for
us, and then hopefully we'll move onto our own host (eg. www.nqba.com.au - please don't
click here!). That's in the future though. We'll see what happens.
