Friends of North Plains SkatePark
8th Committe Meeting September 16, 2008 at 7pm
The meeting was called to order by President,Mike Broome at 7:10 PM. Mary Stocker announced that we have $14,066.88 in our treasury. Future fundraising discussed was a raffle in November with the possiblity of having an ATV or Car to raffle off as the main prize. This idea was tabled until Mike could check on the possiblities of donations. We also discussed having an Auction but felt we would need alot more workers in order to do that. The possiblity of having a skatepark on the City's newly aquired lot was discussed and it was decided that Mike and Dave would present that idea at next month's City Council meeting. Mike said it would be ok to send out reminder letters to those businesses who had previously said they would donate and as yet have not. Leona said she would be willing to do that. Dave reiterated that we only need another $6000.00 to begin buying the equipment, so we are getting very close to our goal which is encouraging. We have received two grants thus far. Oregon Sports Authority in the amount of $2600.00 and Washington County--Andy Duyck for $2000.00 Leona and Mary are currently writing a grant to Tony Hawk Foundation for $5000.00 which will be submitted before September 30 and possibly will apply to the Ford Family Foundation for a grant also. COOKBOOK The Cookbook total cost was $ 860.25. We have sold $949.00 so far and have 131 books left to sell. Mary said the Bank and the Medical Center have put up displays to encourage sales and Mike said he would check to see if the Market would also put up a display or sell some for us. CAN COLLECTION--BLUE BARRELS Can Collection is going well. $2,423.62 has been collected to date. Many thanks go to Glen Warren for his dedication in collecting and redeeming the cans and bottles.
