Arches National Park is a unique landscape in the Utah desert.  The Colorado river runs along the edge of Arches National Park.  The Colorado River is fairly flat and very calm compared to the section of river that runs through the Grand Canyon.  The rock around Arches is called slick rock.  The slick rock is actually sandstone that has been sandblasted by wind and exposure to the elements.
