| Have a Good Contest in Your Shop |
| A way to attract people is to put you are having a contest on the message boards. Advertise in bold with a catchy phrase such as "buy a lipstick get a paint brush". Don't make yourself sound like a scammer or else you have a slim possibility of getten frozen. Show the prize in your shop, but price it alot. Make it a prize that someone would want not an apple or lemon chia pop. Dont't make things so expensive that someone would think your a scammer, or not buy. Remember always stick to your word, dont change the prize, or your mind about the contest. I usually find it easier to have a contest when i get something for free. Because if the highest buyer hardly buys anything you'd have to give them the prize. Make links to other peoples shops and have them link to yours in return, or join a webring. Make sure you always have items in stock. You could neomail the people at the end of the day or something, to tell them what place their in or write it on your shop's description. Disable chat, music, or backgrounds that flash if possible well having a contest, because it takes too long to load and discourages people from buying. Have some really cheap items and some regular priced ones to attract visitors in. Write in bold or colors that theres a contest going on so everyone knows, and make sure the rules are clear. Some ideas for contests: Trivia- Have the person buy an item, and if they get a trivia question right then they get another prize too. (make the items not too expensive but resonable such as a jar of olives for 20-50 np depending on the prize for getting the trivia right.) Buy the most- Make sure to have lots of items in stock and see who can buy the most items. Make sure to keep clearing your sales history so you know whos bought what, and to mark it down on a piece of paper. Spend the most- This is a very popular contest, because it is so simple to conduct. Just put a whole bunch of items, maybe a little over priced, put the prize for 200,000 np and start your contest. Sign the guestbook- Put a guestbook in your shop, and have a contest to see maybe the 50th person or 100th person (depends on which you prefer) to sign the guestbook wins a prize. This makes you lose money, but is a way to get people to see items in your shop and buy them, and then your shop will be more popular because it'll show 100 people cared to sign your guestbook. Shop hints- Don't try to scam someone. Don't go crazy with chatrooms, music, pictures, flashing things, banners etc because it slows down your shop. Buy all the items that are cheaper then yours, and sell them for the price you have, then yours will be the cheapest. When you hold a contest, always state the winner at the end. Advertise your website or guild. Try to always have something in stock. Don't make the name of your shop, or shop owner stupid. Be nice and don't swear using spaces to outwit neopets.
