Supernovaexplosions
The material after the supernovaexplosions which happened 13.4 billion years ago are the building material for other planets, stars, etc. Out of the no where a star gets much bigger and shines much harder then it usually does. It let's so much energie go in just a few weeks or months, as it takes our sun  a few million years. It's nucleus collapses, the outward layers get hurled in to space. This way stars end since 13.4 billion years in "supernovas".
