Work Experience:

Fall 2006- present- Graduate assistant for the Center for Experimental Music & Intermedia at University of North Texas.

Fall 2005- Summer 2006- Recording Engineer for Michigan State University: Working as a Classical recording engineer for the school of music at Michigan State. I Engineer recordings with adequate preparation, appropriate microphone techniques/speaker placement, signal routing, gain staging, and mixing. As an engineer for MSU, I have also done live sound reinforcement for several concerts, including a presentation of the interactive electronic music piece, En Echo, by composer Philippe Manoury with assistance from Miller Puckette.

Fall 2005- Spring 2006- Recording Engineer for Blue Griffin Recording: A Classical music recording engineer for Sergei Kvitko’s Blue Griffin Recording.

Summer 2005 Instructor and Teacher’s Assistant for Computer Music- Interlochen Arts Camp:

I worked as a Teacher’s Assistant for Computer Music teachers Peter Terry and Jenny Bernard at IAC. I taught young students, ages 12-18, MIDI sequencing, software synths, digital audio editing, and electronic music composition. I helped to maintain an electronic music studio and troubleshooting technical problems. Along with my duties as a T.A., I also taught two of my own classes. One of the classes I taught, Electronic Resources for high school composition majors, dealt with Finale music notation software and the publication of scores as well as helping the students with notation in general. The other class I taught was an elementary music theory class for junior campers, ages 8-11.

2005 SEAMUS Conference Assistant:

I Cataloged submissions, did cd and dvd duplication, helped to put together the conference program book, and ran the live sound for many of the SEAMUS concerts in Pruis Hall. These concerts included many multi-channel works as well as interactive pieces.

2004-2005 Graduate Assistant, Music Technology Department- BSU:

I worked as a Graduate Assistant in Recording Technology class. I taught students to understand microphones, mic techniques, sequencing software such as Pro Tools and Digital Performer, as well as using digital and analog mixing boards.

Graduate Assistant for Computer Music: I gained teaching experience for MIDI sequencers, audio editing software, and Csound and Max/ MSP programming. I helped students with music software problems and compositional solutions involving music technology.

2003-2004 Graduate Assistant, Music Technology Resource Lab- BSU:

I managed a computer lab at the BSU School of Music. I helped students and teachers with computer, Internet, and music technology related problems and concerns. Experience at maintaining a work schedule for student employees. I Troubleshooted computer related malfunctions, and maintained both PC and Mac computers, music software, networking, and peripheral devices.

2001-2003 Engineer, Central Recording Services- BSU

I worked as a recording engineer for live music at Pruis Hall and Emens Auditorium as well as remote locations, assembling sound reinforcement, documenting concerts, and making dubs.

Compositions:

Minutia (2006)- A stereo tape piece exactly 60 seconds in length composed for the Vox Novus 60x60 project.

got bugs? (2006)- A stereo tape piece using 4 text samples from a vocal improvisation.

SEAMUSCENT (2005)- A short tape piece based on source material from people attending SEAMUS conferences gathered by Paul Rudy. This piece was written for the SEAMUS electroclips contest.

Excursions (2005)- Continuous variations on a theme are explored in this one movement work for full symphony orchestra.

Wise Blood (2005)- tape. Christian televangelists and worship sounds/themes were used to create this computer music piece.

The Interactive Zoo (2005) (composed with Jeff Nellans)- An interactive installation or performance piece for dancers involving 6-channel electronic music based on movement in a circular space outlined by infrared sensors.

A History of the Sketch (2004)- An art song for baritone, piccolo, oboe, bassoon, vibraphone, violin, and viola. Text from the poem, A History of the Sketch by Richard Hugo.

Locrian Fugue (2004)- for violin, viola, and clarinet in Bb.

Cannon Balls (2004)- for violin, viola, and bassoon.

Pintar and Ratnip (2003)- two movements for woodwind quintet.

Sewage Ain’t Sexy: remix (2003)- Electro-acoustic remix of a song by the heavy metal band Racebannon.

Lost, Lone Marcher (2002)- for trumpet, alto sax, tenor sax, double bass, and percussion.

Clouds Traverse Marbles (2002)- tape. Created from 3 short samples of a bell, a rock dropping in a pond, and a small bell. FFT analysis/resynthesis is used extensively in this piece.

Musk Spraypaint (2001)- tape. Created using granular synthesis computer music software and signal processing of many different sounds including spraypaint and blown bottles.

A Blessing (2001)- A string trio based on the poem with the same title by James Wright.

All Maxed Out (2000)- A composition for MIDI synthesizer and Max.

The Well-Tempered Tape Recorder (1999)- tape.
