Returned Objects FAQ
(Go Back)

My furniture keeps getting returned to me after i've placed it. What do I have to do to stop this from happening?

First, be sure you're a member of the group "Cherry Tree Rentals". If you're not, simply find an invite server in any tower lobby or manager's office. Your objects, furniture, and other prims you have in your house must be set to the group in order to avoid the auto return. To be sure you're setting items to the group, make sure you're Cherry Tree Rentals group is active when you're placing items. It should say "Cherry Tree" over your head if it is. To activate a group, just right click yourself and select "groups" from the pie menu. A list of groups you belong to will appear. Highlight the "Cherry Tree Rentals" group and press the "activate" button. For lost items that have been returned, see other questions in this category.

I've had items returned to me and I'm unable to find them in my inventory. What can I do?

Open your chat history window. Make sure you make note of the name that the items were returned as. If possible, copy this and save it as a notecard. Use this name to search for the item that you've lost. Open your inventory, click the "recent items" tab. Enter the returned object's name in the search bar. You may not see the item there as sometimes there is considerable lag on the side of Second Life from the time you're notified of returned items until the actual item is returned. Be patient. The item will show up. Keep in mind that it may have been returned as an unexpected name such as "object" or as a group of items in one object. If this still doesn't work, see the "Returned / Missing Items" entry.

Items have gone missing from my house / apartment and they definitely are NOT showing up in my inventory.

Check to be sure that there are no items that are set for sale in your place. If they are set for sale, they may also be set to "show in search". If they are set to both of these parameters, it will be possible for people to tp directly to the item if they wish to purchase it. If it's also a no copy item, it will belong to another person and they may do as they wish with it. This is becoming a fairly common problem with the new search functions. It most likely only happens on parcels that are set to show in search, but can happen on other parcels as well. This occurs when people buy items directly (not boxed) from a store. When it's bought, it retains the "for sale" settings that the vendor has set previously. It is highly reccomended that residents don't buy items that are sold in this fashion. It's a poor way to sell things and easy to forget to change the settings thus creating item loss.
