I've found a house or apartment that I'd
like to live in, how do I start a new
lease?
The simplest way to start a new lease is
done in-world. You need only to right
click on the box outside of the door that
says "space for lease". Your pie menu
will appear. Select "pay" from the pie
menu. You can then enter the amount
you'd like to pay. It is possible to pay for
multiple weeks with one payment. To do
this you need only to multiply your
weekly payment by the number of
weeks you'd like to lease, then pay that
amount to lease. There are other ways
to start new leases and renew them, this
is the simplest way if you can easily
make it in-world.
The auto-leaser says the maximum is 10 weeks. Does that mean I have to move out after 10 weeks?
No, that does not mean you'll have to leave after 10 weeks. The maximum is simply the most you can pay your lease in advance at one time. You can not have more than 10 weeks left on your lease. Of course, you're welcome to stay longer than 10 weeks, you'll just need to remember to renew occasionally. In fact, we'd be happy to have you live here longer than 10 weeks.
Do I have to wait for my lease to expire before I can pay for more time?
No, we don't recommend that you do this. Our homes are very popular and when a lease expires, anyone can start a new lease at any time. So, if you do let it expire, you may lose your place to another person. You can pay the smaller (blue or black) info box at any time during your lease to renew. See the how do I start a new lease entry for more info on the specifics of payments made in world. There are other ways to handle renewals, but this is the most direct.
Is it possible for me to transfer the lease I have currently to another person or place? Yes, it is possible. The current tenant must notify Benjamin Nowotny to accomplish a lease transfer. It's important to mention where your lease is currently, and where, or who, you'd like it to be transferred to.
We can not transfer your lease to a place that is currently occupied by another tenant.
I've leased a new and larger place someplace else, can I get a refund?
No, we do not allow refunds as per your leasing contract notecard. To recieve said notecard, it is necessary to touch your "space for lease" or "info" box and hold for more than three seconds.
We do offer transfers of your current lease to one of the many larger places (in most cases) that are available. If you'd rather move into your new place, I can suggest that you "sell" your lease to another. Get the remaining payment from them, and notifiy Benjamin Nowotny so that your lease can be transferred to the new tenant.
How do I pay for my lease on the apez website?
Once you have an Apez account, you'll need to use the atm to deposit money into it. Once there is money in the account, go to Apez to view your leases. (If you don't have a lease, you can go here to find a place that's right for you.) To the right of each one, under the "actions" column, there is a paper and pencil icon. Click the icon and select the number of weeks you'd like to renew for from the buttons at the bottom.The first thing you'll need to pay your lease on the apez website is an apez account. If you don't have an Apez account, you can go to Oak Ridge Centre and touch the atm to sign up for an account.
How do I activate auto extend for my lease?
Once you have an Apez account, you'll need to use an atm to deposit money into it. Go to Apez to view your lease. Make sure the "auto-extend" box is checked on the right side of your lease listing, and click the green "update" box to the lower right of the list. This will automatically extend your lease by one week when you have less than a week left. It will not extend if you don't have enough L$ in your account, or if the price or number of prims for the lease change.(See "how do i pay my lease on the apez website?" entry for how to set up an apez account.)
How do I know how much time I have left on my lease?
You can always click on the info box outside of your door at any time to find out how much time is left on your current lease. The auto-leaser will send out reminders to you when you have 7 days left, 3 days, 24 hours, and upon expiration as well. (You can also view your lease information on the Apez website.
