Aran Islands

What was Ireland like in days long ago? One of the best ways to find out is to take a daytrip to the Aran Islands, sitting 30 miles out at sea where Galway Bay meets the Atlantic Ocean. We visited Inishmore which means "Great Island". The people live a simple life. Their cottages are white-washed in the old tradition. Many of the natives still earn a living by fishing, some of the people farm the rocky land, using seaweed and sand to augment the poor soil, while still others find new sources of income in the growing tourism industry.
