FEBRUARY 2007

Thomas continued to run a fever so some additional tests were run as well as a chest x-ray and they found he has pneumonia again. We are still waiting on the test results for the UTI; the first culture was lost. His antibotics have been changed and hopefully this won't be too much of a setback.

Thomas is still running a fever and the urinary track infection test is being redone; the first one came back inconclusive. He does seem to be listening when we talk to him. When asked to blink twice if he wants to listen to music, he does. When he is asked to squeeze a hand, you can feel him attempt to squeeze. Please keep up the prayers, they are working.

Sorry I haven't updated the site in a while, there hasn't been anything new to report till today. Thomas is running a fever and probably has another UTI. They are beginning a round of antibotics; at least they aren't waiting until the tests come back this time. Hopefully they caught it in time enough to keep him out of the hopsital. He is still in the coma and responding to a few commands.

Thomas was transferred back to Chase Care Center today. He is doing well but still remains in a coma.
02/08/2007
Thomas is still at Sharp Hospital. We are not sure when and where he will be moved to. He is still in a coma and minimally responsive.

Thomas was removed from the ventilator on Monday and is now breathing on his own. He will have the trach, which delivers oxygen, until he wakes up from the coma. Since all of the infections are under control and he no longer has pneumonia, Thomas is being transferred to the Sharp Cabrillo Skilled Nursing Center on Thursday.

The doctor put the bone flap back in Thomas' skull on Friday. A CT scan today shows that he has probably lost the vision in his right eye and he still has lots of swelling and bruising in his brain. He is still in a coma but he is starting to respond to some commands and he is moving his arms purposefully which are good signs. All the prayers and faith have gotten us this far and will keep us going throughout this very long road ahead. We thank you all for your continued prayers, thoughts and well-wishes. |
