Like everyone else, I first met the Holy Spirit at Baptism, but was too young to appreciate that. My second meeting occurred as a youngster during Confirmation; a time when we're given the strength of the Holy Spirit to spread and defend the faith by word and action as true witnesses of Christ. This event in my life was exciting and dynamic, but I didn't know what was expected of me.

After I grew up, I chanced upon a Charismatic Healing Service. This service was designed for the healing of bad memories or harbored bad feelings. Due to my frustrating childhood this was desperately needed. By the end of the service, I was reduced to tears. That was puzzling. After the service I bought a book on the Charismatic concept, which was written by the priest conducting the service. It looked like a good book, but I didn't take the time to read it. Instead, I put it in my bookcase for a future time.

Two years later, due to an abusive work situation, I was reduced to a bundle of stress. I'd come home highly depressed and unable to eat. Sitting down on the sofa, I found myself staring at a wall until my eyes landed on the bookcase. Something kept telling me to read that book. I took it off the shelf and started reading. It was so fascinating I couldn't put it down. The book advised people like myself to join a Charismatic Prayer Group and get back in touch with God. But I had no idea where such a prayer group existed.

The next day at church a woman sitting behind me tapped me on the shoulder and said, "My husband and I are starting a class in the next town. Would you like to go with us?" I asked what the class was all about. She replied, "It's a Charismatic class about the Holy Spirit." Yes indeed, I DO believe I was then being given a personal invitation!

Now, the Holy Spirit is known as The Healer, and there was a time in my life when I had experienced a medical problem doctors couldn't solve. When they threw up their hands and walked away, I took my prayer request to the Charismatic Prayer Group. In one month my symptoms were reduced by 96%. The following month, the illness literally vanished!

Even though I felt wonderful, the doctors would not accept that all was well. So they returned me to the hospital for tests. The tests found nothing wrong. Believe what you want, but let me reassure you, my illness was documented and its disappearance was also. No one was able to assist me except one....the Holy Spirit. To me, the Holy Spirit is the nearest and dearest helper that I've ever had. And I've always expressed a deep love for Him. To me, He's the greatest treasure one can ever hope for.

Do yourself a favor and get in touch with the Holy Spirit through prayer. You never know what wonderful thing may be in store for you!
