Now That's Entertainment . . . Issue # 18 [[ WARNING: The following piece contains material and/or language that may offend or not be suitable for some readers. Reader discretion is advised.]] "Where the hell have you been?!?! - Random Musings" Back by popular demand, "Now That's Entertainment . . ." has returned from its unscheduled hiatus. Oddly enough, I received no message from anybody asking me to write another one of this little shindigs. I suppose that should be expected, the pessimist that I am, because damn near none of you read this thing. Like all the people that ask my ol' buddy Joey Planta, "Why do you write this? Who reads it?" Well, I read it. Joseph does the same in return. Some of you may read my musings sometimes, and some of you may not, which is fine by me. This is a free country after all, and you can read (or not read) whatever you damn well please. Joseph tells me that the likes of May and Babak have been asking him where I have been? C'mon you guys, I'd expect better than that from you. If you's be wondering where I've beena hiding, you betta ask me, eh? Well, frankly, I haven't had all that much time lately to keep up with this little side hobby of mine. Unlike the dedicated columnist in Joseph Planta, I can't write five times a week every week. When I started this way back last September, I said that the sending out of these things would be completely inconsistent, and I think it's same to say that has held true. One month I may write five or six of these, then I won't write anything for the next two months. Onto the meat of this. Point number one. Work sucks. It really does. For those of you wondering, I have been gainfully employed by the good people at A & B Sound since November, but have only truly worked there these past six weeks. Prior to that, I was, as they say, "on call." Mind you, I'm the one that has to call. Well, Irma Garcia, a nice ol' lady who works the A/P Software at A&B took a nice month long vacation off somewhere, leaving her desk all empty and void-looking. Well, I just settled right in to keep her seat warm. Working practically full-time since school concluded, after I graduated from high school, I'm a little burned out. I'm taking this week off to catch up on email and go some orientations and things, then I'm off to the Pacific National Exhibition to be locked up in a tiny booth selling admission tickets to snot nosed kids and they snobby (or bummy) parents. No offence to anyone here, I assure you. :) Point number two. Money rules. I couldn't care less what people say, money can buy you happiness. They just don't know where the store is. Money may not necessarily be a source of happiness within itself, but without it, life is miserable. I wouldn't know this from first hand experience, as I have been pampered and spoiled (and I'm willing to admit this) quite a bit. I'm not a snobby rich kid with everything handed to him on a silver platter, but I have not experience famine or poverty, and for that I am grateful. After working at A & B the past six weeks, I have amassed a little over $1000. Not too shabby, I suppose. Add that to my paycheque at PNE, and I'm set for the year. By the way, and this will sound a lot like showing off, my first year's tuition has been paid for, thanks to a few scholarships and the Passport to Education. Point number three. School's okay. I'm sure all of you at Tupp who graduated this past June have gotten your Provincial results back, and your transcripts. There were cheers, there were jeers, there were tears, but they are final. I wouldn't say that I was disappointed in my performance, nor would I say I was beyond pleased. I think the marks were fair and expected, mostly. The thing that caught me off guard was my French performance at 86%. Well, I got the $1000 scholarship thing off that, which was nice.... wait a damn second! WHERE THE HELL IS MY HIGH SCHOOL DIPLOMA?!?! Did any of y'all get it yet? It's been quite some time now. Typical Tupper, lagging behind. Well, I'm off to UBC in the fall, and well, there really isn't much to say about that. Keep your heads high, and your spirits higher. Point number four. Is there any point writing this? Who's going to read it? Was this a blatant waste of my precious time? I suppose I'll never really know. Just out of curiousity, I'd love to have any and all comments, questions, remarks, insults, slams, praise, whatever, sent my way. Any and all feedback, and I mean this, is greatly appreciated.
