| In Stockholm, Sweden, since 1991 have been discussing about a new security doctrine. Finally, on Wednesday, February 13, 2002 they announced the new security doctrine. Some say that this could foreshadow a NATO membership. The Foreign Minister, Anna Lindh, says that this new doctrin still contains the word neutral. Te decision happened because of hte threats of terrorism in the U.S.A. I think that it is a bad idea to take a stp away from neautrality because if they go onto the NATO membership the oposing country will begin to fight Sweden. The army, since they remained neutral during World War I and World War II, may not be as well trained as the oposing country. I think that taking a step away from neutrality would appear on a timeline because of how long they have been discussin whether to go along with the new plan or not, and that is such a big step for Sweden. |
