Rating:
This book had good description. It was easy to create a picture in your head about what the author was saying. For example, "While she washed Lorelei’s soft, satin sheets, her lady ship would be sitting at her ease embroidering by the window and looking out at the bright sun." The introduction was quite interesting. This fairy tale’s beginning was unlike any other fairy tales that I have ever read. It was very creative and funny. For example, when Lorelei was a baby, her hair grew in thirty seconds. This book kept my interest. It was a page-turner. Once I started reading, I could not put the book down. One of the things that helped keep my interest was the cliffhangers. These really made me ask questions. This book was exciting and made you wonder how it would end. The events were pretty exciting. They made me wonder what was going to happen next. Most of them were funny. The events at the end of each chapter were the best. They really made me think about how this story would end. Since this fairy tale was already different than most, maybe it would also have a different ending. I thought that the author should have changed the tests that the maidens had to pass in order to become a princess. The tests had nothing to do with being a princess. For example, one of the tests was that the maidens received a salad. In the salad was an uncooked noodle. The maidens had to find it. Another test was that when the maidens arrived they were given a bouquet. In the bouquet, the king and queen had hidden a bit of parsley. The maidens had to pluck it out. The characters were funny, interesting, and creative. Usually in a fairy tale, the characters had an evil or cruel person. In this book it was kind of different. There was a cruel person, but in the end there was peace. [Aileen]
