Title: The Long Patrol

Author: Jacques, Brian

Book Preview:

The cruel Rapscallion army is on the move. After a humiliating defeat by Lady Cregga Rose Eyes, the badger lady of Salamandastron, the Rapscallions are heading inland for an even greater prize: the peaceful abbey, Redwall. The Long Patrol, a fighting unit of dangerous hares, is called out to stop them. A young hare, Tammo, who has always dreamed of being a long patroller gets his chance and takes up a lead role in one of the most unbelievable battles Redwall has ever faced.

Rating:

The description was great. It is so easy to understand what the author was writing about. I like how I could see a clear picture of whatever he wrote about. An example of the description is when the author describes Redwall Abbey. It was like being there at the big feast, meeting the mice and other woodland creatures, and tasting the delicious food.

The introduction was boring because like all Redwall books it starts with a young creature in the woods doing something. I think the author should have changed the introduction to something different, like a great army coming to Redwall to conquer it. I believe the author wanted to keep it simple.

The events were very exciting. It made you feel as though you were right there in the battle between Redwall and the Rapscallion. Another one of the exciting events was the search for Rapscallions with Tammo and the Long Patrol.

The book’s organization was marvelous. Never, in the whole week, did I get lost. I could even stop reading for a day and still not get lost.

The characters weren’t so interesting because they were so dull. An example is the warriors. Like all Redwall warrior characters they’re not active til battle. The non-warriors are the opposite. They’re active when there isn’t a battle. [Robert]
