Title: The Haunting of Cabin 13

Book Preview:

Laurie and her family decided to go on vacation to Backbone State Park.  They got to the park, signed in, and were led to Cabin 13.  As they settled in, Laurie found a note on her bed.  It was signed, "Eleanor".  Laurie decided not to tell any of her family about the mysterious note.  She wanted to dig around and find out more about it.  Who was Eleanor?  Why did she leave this note?  Are there other notes?

I gave the introduction a one rating. The beginning of the story was confusing because the scenes kept changing. Laurie and her family started out being at Backbone State Park, but then the next scene had them somewhere else. The author didn't give a detailed explanation of why they were there, and then the scene changed again.

There were very exciting events in this books I would give it a three. The author gave the reader hints on what happened to Eleanor, and the events in the book were unexpected by the reader so that made the events spookier and interesting.

For organization, I gave the book a four because the mystery kept unfolding each time Laurie found a new note, and the story wouldn’t jump back from place to place with a topic. In the story, the author mentioned the murder solving notes that were appearing everyday at Laurie’s cabin. These notes were supposedly signed by Eleanor and gave clues to what happened to her. The reader is not able to figure out what the notes were really about until later in the story.

The characters in the story were very interesting because each character had an exciting and dangerous role to play in finding out how Eleanor was killed. Even Laurie's family members helped because they found a note that Laurie had missed.

The ending of the book deserves a two because the story ended with the Park Ranger admitting to something he did. What he admitted help Eleanor’s family to figure out the mystery of what happened to Eleanor. [Tara]
