Rating:
This book had great description. It was so descriptive that it made me scared. You could easily create a picture in your head. For example, one sentence that made it easy to create a picture in your head was: "The first faint wash of morning, showed grey through the window opening onto the front areaway." I liked how the characters’ personalities and qualities were described and showed in their actions. The introduction was great and really made me want to read the book. I liked how it did not give away too much information. It did not have any unnecessary details that made the introduction boring. Instead this book got right to the point. This book’s events were unlike any other book’s events that I have ever read. Thanks to descriptive words, it was very exciting. One of the things that made me get excited and continue reading were the cliffhangers at the end of each chapter. "The terrifying thing was that he knew he was awake the whole time." One thing that would have made the book better was if the author took out some unneeded information in the chapters that makes it boring. This book was really interesting. It was such a page- turner that I could not even put the book down for one minute. For example, they find some numbers behind the chimney. What could they mean? Is this a clue? Poor Tom’s Ghost was well organized. For every event there was a clue, and that clue fit with the previous one. There was a clear beginning, middle, and end. The beginning was great. It was exciting and really made me want to read the end of the book. I liked how in the beginning it got right to the point instead of having all this unneeded information. This book was better than The Headless Ghost because it was more descriptive and scary. This book was intense, touching, and exciting. At the end of most Goosebumps books, it is just a joke or a nightmare, but in this book it is all actually happening, so you never know how it will end. [Aileen]
