Rating:
The introduction started out very jumpy. It talked about Kaci’s family, then it would switch to talking about why and how she moved to the other new house. The beginning was also extremely dull. It talked about many important things, but never added enough details. If it added a little bit more detail, then it would’ve been a great introduction. The characters in this book were like every other character in every other book. They always have the main character be a tomboy (if the characters a girl), and they dislike the color pink and dresses. Kaci’s role in this book was dull, it had no excitement of how she reacted to things. You could tell already how she was going to react before it talked about it. But the less important characters in this book, like Kaci’s brother, were interesting. Kaci’s brother was unlike other brothers in other books. He liked to play the piano and played really well. He also was shy. While many brothers in books are usually mean, and likes to get attention. The events were mostly centered on one main plot. It didn’t have a lot of events. The ones it did have was very short, so it gave away everything. The main plot itself was a bit dull. The idea of the plot was interesting, but the way it was described made it boring. The details were not well explained. It didn’t have the 5 senses or the 5 W’s (who, what, where, when, and sometimes how.) When it did explain something it would use dull words. It couldn’t really tell you the details because it always switched from one topic to another and then to another and so on. It was like there was no space to write some interesting details. Because it was rushed. This book was dull and undetailed. It also was too short. It seemed like the author was trying to squeeze a good plot into a short story, so it made the book not exciting, interesting or detailed. [Linda]
