Title: Hatchet

Author: Paulsen, Gary

Book Preview:

On Brian’s way to his dad’s house in a private jet, the pilot had a heart attack and died. Now Brian has to land the plane himself. He landed the plane, but in a pond that was in a forest. All he has to stay alive is a T-shirt, shorts, and a hatchet that his mom gave him. He is on a survival mission for warmer clothes, food, and a warm shelter to stay until someone rescues him.

Rating:

I like the part when the pilot had a heart attack and died which led Brian to land the plane himself. I found that part interesting because I was thinking "is Brian going to land the plane, or is he going to crash the plane?"

I think this book was organized because it didn’t jump from scene to scene.

I think this book was a page turner because I just had to see what was on the next page. I like survival books because they keep my interest.

This book had a real good introduction because it got me interested in the book the first couple of sentences that I read.

This book had a good ending because it didn’t give that much information away. That’s good because it leaves the person who was reading this book with some questions. [Shawn]

I liked how the author described everything. Whenever he described something it made me have a picture is my mind, like when they described the woods.

The book was interesting. It made me want to read more. The events were so exciting you don’t want to stop.

The book was organized. The chapters made it organized so, didn’t scatter all the events everywhere.

The book has a lot of lessons. Like, life are full surprises and always be prepared and much more.

The characters were very good. The character never gave up and trusted his hatchet. [Talha]
