Title: From The Mixed-up Files of Mrs. Basil E.Frankweiler

Author: Konigsburg, E.L.

Book Preview:

New York is a very big city, especially for Claudia and James Kincaid, two adventurous children that ran away from home.  They ended up in the museum of New York. While they are at this museum they go on many escapades such as taking baths in the fountain and sleeping in the most expensive bed in the whole, entire museum. James, the cautious, stubborn one, walks everywhere and never spends money unless it is an emergency. Claudia is James’ careless, easy-going sister who falls in love with a statue and becomes obsessed with finding out who made it.

Rating:

This is a very good book about two daring kids, Claudia and James Kincaid. They are very unique, lively, and exciting. James is the funny one. He says "baloney" a lot. He is very stubborn when it comes to spending money.

The description was well done, but the author could have described the place where they lived. It would have helped the readers to better understand their living conditions.

The ending was the best part of the book. You found out who made the statue. It did not surprise me. I always like it when the secret is revealed and the mystery is solved. I also like to read the explanations of how the mystery was solved.

The organization was very good. It didn’t jump from one topic to a completely different topic. The topics were mostly related.

The events were so exciting. Some of them, like the part where they found the tickets, were extraordinary. This would be a book I would recommend to everyone. [Ravi]

The characters in this book were very funny. The two children in this book were so confused it was hilarious. If a book has humor it makes it so much more interesting and easy to follow.

I think that this book was moderately exciting. It was not the most exciting book I have read, but it wasn’t boring. I think the most exciting part was when Claudia and James were taking a bath in the fountain, and they heard a security guard in the next room.

I think this book had so-so description. It was not a very descriptive book but it did have some very well described parts. Such as (the man was a very tall, thin one, with blue eyes and a black top hat).

This book was not very well written (it jumped around a lot). It didn’t stick to the topic at all. This book would have been better if it were more organized. If it were better organized I would be able to follow it better.

I liked the humor in this book. It was a very funny book. If there were a humor category, I would give it a 4 because it made me laugh on the first page and kept me laughing until the end of the book. [Brad]
