CAREER OPPORTUNITIES
You do not have to come to a dead stop once you reach the esteemed level of Aes Sedai. If you stay around long enough, there are any number of positions that may eventually come up. People sometimes find that real life gets too hectic and retire as an active servent in the Tower. The following are just a few descriptions of some of the current jobs in the Tower. And remember, as we grow, we will have even more opportunities for those wishing to make a greater mark. Stay active, stay aware, and the sky is the limit! There are four main career paths for those wishing to hold a position of influence in the Tower Administration This branch includes the Keeper, Mistress of Novices, Secretary, Treasurer and other support staff. Their main focus is to keep the Tower running, process membership, maintain records and generally handle all the logistics that come from running a large membership organization. Legislation This is comprised of the Hall of Sitters and the Annual Committee. They serve mainly as a group trying to best serve the interests of the Tower whether that be through passing law, debating important topics, or aiding in the planning of real life functions. They serve a 6 month term of office. Support These positions include the Mistress of Revels, the Librarian, and the Tower Voice. They serve a specific function in the Tower that helps to keep the community running and dynamic. Community The Heads of Ajah fall under this heading. They serve as webmistresses for their Ajah Head quarters and mentors for all Aes Sedai in their Ajah. They decide what is to be researched and are responsable for its presentation.

AJAH RESOURCE CENTER
"The White Ajah, largely eschewing both the world and the value of worldly knowledge, devotes itself to questions of philospohy and truth."
"Aes Sedai had been stilled studying Ter'angreal. Burned out, it was called when it happened by accident, yet it was just as final. Nynaeve didnt think so, of course, but Nynaeve would not be satisfied until she had healed somebody three days dead."
"The world seldom knows what it thinks it knows."
"She thinks only of knowledge... The culmination of the direst prophecy the world knows, perhaps the end of the world, and she cares only about the knowledge. But she is still dangerous, for that."
"You Blues. Always so ready to save the world that you lose yourselves."

"And now we stand ready, for the Trollocs to come South again, for Tar'mon Gai'don, the Last Battle. We will be there. That is what it means to be Green."

Want more information on our Ajahs and how they fit in at TarValon.Net? You've come to the right place!
The Blue Ajah
The Gray Ajah
The White Ajah
The Blue Ajah is tun by a single very powerful woman, and is perhaps the most influential of the Ajahs, although one of the smaller ones. The primary focus of the Blue Ajah is to champion worthy causes (thought worthy by Aes Sedai standards) and to promote justice. Skilled in political maneuvering, Blues are also able administrators. Since Artur Hawkwing's time, more Amyrlins have been raised from the Blue thank from any other Ajah. - The World of Robert Jordan's Wheel of Time
Forsaking mundane life in general, members of the Brown Ajah are dedicated to seeking and preserving knowledge. Unlike the Blue and Red Ajahs, the Brown Ajah is run by a ruling council. The Browns are primarily responsable for the procurement and preservation of the vast cache of books and scrolls which help make the Tower library the largest single repository of knowledge in the Land. Much that is known of artifacts or new Talents has been discovered by sisters of the Brown Ajah. - The World of Robert Jordan's Wheel of Time
The Gray Ajah are mediators, seeking harmony and consensus. Many kingdoms use Gray sisters to insure that their treaties with one another will hold, though there is always the fear that these treaties, when concluded with Aes Sedai aid, may further the Tower's goals more than those of the original parties. - The World of Robert Jordan's Wheel of Time
The Green Ajah is also known as the Battle Ajah. Their primary goal is to hold themselves ready for Tarmon Gai'don, the Last Battle with the Dark One. Fierce fighters of Shadowspawn, they are also known for their appreciation of men, a trait fairly rare among the other Ajahs. Green sisters do not beleive in limiting themselves to only one Warder. Some have been known to bond three or more at one time. While this fact is a sometime source of humor among sisters of the other Ajahs, it is not entirely a frivolous practice. During the Trolloc Wars the Greens' additional Warders made a positive difference in battle. -The World of Robert Jordan's Wheel of Time
It is known that the Red Ajah's primary goal is to protect the Land from all men who can touch the True Source. They hunt down men who can channel and bring them to the Tower to be gentled. They refuse to bond any Warders, possibly because their purpose makes it difficult for them to trust or work closely with any man. The Red Ajah is the largest, is led by a simgle woman, who wields a great deal of power both within and outside of her Ajah. -The World of Robert Jordan's Wheel of Time
"To prevent another breaking....this is our goal."
The White Ajah, unlike all the others, avoid both the world and worldly knowledge. Questions of philosophy engross then, and the search for truth is their all-consuming passion. - The World of Robert Jordan's Wheel of Time
Those Aes Sedai with an especially strong Talent for healing join the Yellow Ajah. Yellow sisters are wholly devoted to healing sickness and injury as well as finding new cures and new methods of using the One Power to restore health, though in truth, few believe any better method exists than the one known since the Breaking. -The World of Robert Jordan's Wheel of Time
The Blue Ajah at TarValon.Net is very similar to that in the Books. Each of the Blue Aes Sedai has felt a particular calling towards a goal, and these goals have ranged from increasing membership to informing members of important news. In addition to their private crusades, the Blue Ajah maintains our Eyes and Ears and focuses on researching cultures, travel and better ways to manipulate people.
You can always spot a Brown on our site by their dreamy look at the ink stain on their nose. But don't be fooled, this Ajah is incredibly active in all aspects of the Tower from Administration to hosting real life events. Our Brown Ajah focuses almost exclusively on gathering little known information about the Wheel of Time and piecing it together to create a clearer view of the World in which we imagine ourselves. They are also in charge of the TarValon.Net library and links pages.
The Grays play an essential role in the development of TarValon.Net. They are our politicians, our emmisaries, and our council. They not only work to resolve conflict arising in the tower, they also serve as experts in our Tower history and maintain our Tower Law. Visitors to the site are directed to the Greys for guidance until such time they decide to join the community. The Welcome Center and the Tower Law are maintained by the Greys, and their research is focused on TarValon.Net specific issues.
The Green Ajah is an incredibly active Ajah at TarValon.Net and serve as our primary force for defence of the Tower. They are problem solvers and concentrate on obliterating dark friends (i.e. server problems, spammers, and other minions of the Dark One). If ever any part of the Tower is threatened, these worthy ladies rally to the cause. Unfortunately, most of what they do is not publicised. But trust me. They're busy. Green Ajah research is centered around Warders, the Bond, battle tactics, drinking, and fun and games.
Our Red Ajah is not the power-hungry man-hating group of women portrayed in the Books. They are an exceptionally close sisterhood of very capable women who chose to put faith in eachother rather than put their fates in the hands of a Warder. Their goal is to prevent a breaking of the world.... or in our case, the fall of TarValon.Net. They serve as site policemen, guiding people when they misunderstand the rules, and generally making sure that everything on the site runs as smoothly as possible. There will be no unpleasant suprises with these ladies around! The Reds main body of research is into the forsaken, shadowspawn, darkfriends and other foes of the Tower.
Is our White Ajah concerned with matters of philosophy and logic? Yes! Are they cold and emotionless women given to being Dark Friends? No! The White Ajah dedicates itself to theorizing about the Wheel of Time, what has happened in the past, and most importantly, what will happen in the future. Their research is almost exlusively done to serve this ideal. And most of our Whites seem to be possessed of a very dry sense of humor. Who saw that one comming?
Our Yellow Sisters not only do research on healing, herbs and relations in the Wheel of Time, they also serve as a supportive peer counseling network for the members at TarValon.Net. We are indeed fortunate to have so many ladies willing to dedicate their time to listening. They may not be able to heal with the power... but they truely try to ease the soul.
