Appearance:  Shalon is tall (1.75 m or 5' 8")and slender, with thick black hair that has a tendency to tangle. Her skin is oddly pale for one of her race, and her eyes are gray. In the Sea Folk style, her hands are heavily tattooed, beginning in spirals that slowly spin outward from the center of each palm and the backs of her hands. The tattooes continue up her arms and onto her shoulders, ending in light curls around the outsides of each eye. She has a thick scar on her neck, and is usua! ll! y seen with either a set of knives, a staff, or both. There are four small gold hoops in her left ear, which join by means of a delicate chain to the two matching hoops in her nose. Shalon does not wear
medallions. Before she came to the Tower and put her name in the Book of Novices, she clothed herself as do the Atha'an Miere. Now, she mostly wears white novice
dresses (in various states of cleanliness depending on whether she has recently been sparring in the Practice Field). In private, she prefers to clothe herself in the thin silk
robes she brought with her when she left her people.

Personality:  Many people account the Atha'an Miere an arrogant people to a man. Arrogant and proud, but most consider them skilled and able in the bargain. From this many of the misconceptions surrounding the Sea Folk arise. They are accounted to be thieves or tricksters, prone to bargaining traders out of more than they want to give and slipping out of their own end of the deal. Shalon ! di! n Rakun does not match this conception. She is proud, but only in what she has truly won for herself. She does not lie, cheat, or bargain, but will do what must be done to achieve what she feels necessary. Shalon is reserved and tends to stay by herself except when set upon or when practicing with weapons. She has a sharp, if somewhat coarse, sense of humor and is fond of drinking, fighting and crude jokes, although few in the Tower may ever see this side of her, as her overly rigid and shame-sensitive Sea Folk upbringing tends to dominate. Shalon never discusses her upbringing beyond the necessary facts, nor is she prone to explaining what reasons have her coming to the Tower to learn as a Novice.

No one who knows from what they speak has ever given Shalon an objective standard by which to measure her strength. Shalon was taught by the Atha'an Miere, and
comes to the Tower without problems controlling saidar. Likewise, the Atha'an Miere never tested (or never told her) the relative strengths of her skills with various aspects
of the Power, although she believes her strongest must be Air. She has Talent for Weaving the Winds as well as the natural ability to make angreal, ter'angreal, and
sa'angreal. These abilities she feels the Atha'an Miere 'forced' in her as they manifested themselves. Shalon does show scraps of other talents, and recently discovered
that not all who embrace the Source invent new weaves, as she has done on several occasions.

Shalon has no idea yet which Ajah will be the right choice. She thought she would become Green, but meeting some of the Accepted and Aes Sedai has made her see
how little she knows about what is best for her in the Power. Above all things, Shalon feels she must always make the right choice, and this she holds to be one of the
most important choices she will ever make.
