Merida - Venezuela
By Daniela Patruno
  Merida is a state localized at the west of Venezuela. Its weather is cold and its made up by big mountains which have a humid vegetation, and a special kind of plant with a little yellow flowers, called frailejon;
you can see this plant only in Merida.

The village is on the mountains, so there are many roads as ways to go round the village by car. On that tour, you can see the beautiful landscapes that offer you its exotic fauna and flora.

On the way, you have to do some stops. The first one is in any cafe, to drink a kind of tea, called calentaito. With the cold that youll have over there...that drink is great. Also (without do the stop), sometimes the children, in the street, go to your car, sing a kind of story for you and your family, give you the drink, and you give them some money in change.
Its very fun, because they have the cheeks redden, and they are very kind with people.

Moreover, you have to visit the top of one of the mountains, called Pico El Aguila. Its very cold over there so you can drink some hot chocolate. And outside of the cafe, there is a little place when theres a statue of the typical bird of Venezuela, that is the eagle.
After that, you can go to the cable car station, thats a very good tour.

You cross 4 tops of different mountains, the penultimate is the Pico
Bolivar, and the last one is the Pico Espejo. In this top you can see the
snow!!! Its beautiful.

If you would like to go, look at these little recommendations:

- Take with you clothes to keep warm.

- You can call to do a reservation in any guesthouse, the people is
really
very kind, and its not too expensive.

- Dont leave Merida without eat trout. If you are in a restaurant you
have
to ask for trucha. The breeding of trouts in Venezuela is there...in
Merida; so they are so fresh.

- Visit a church, that is on the way, which was built only with rocks,
its
so little and its name is Iglesia de las Piedras.

- Take your camera and enjoy your trip!!!
