Rudi loves Fort Lauderdale
A city I love

No doubt about it... no question:  Fort Lauderdale.  this is also a reason why I'm here again to study.  i prefer towns with nice places and spaces,, with a colorful lifestyle, wiht a touch o fclass and fun.

Another advantage:  the green zones (areas, spaces) in the middle of the city.  And, dont forget the channels and harborwayswith the nice boats.  And the absolute highlights:  Las Olas Blvd. Wityh all the nice stores and restaurants.

Then Fort Lauderdale is on excellent point to start trips to famous places like Miami, West Palm Beach the Keys and a lot of other destinations.

In April 2000 I was here in Fort Lauderdale for the first ime.  A friend of mine lives in Port Charlotte near Fort Myers, and and he invites me last springtime to visit this really beautiful stae.  We started our floirda sightseeing tour here in Fort Lauderdale and at the end o four trip I knewit:  Ill come back to Lauderdale.  Now Im here,.  This time not to go on vacation.  The reason is to brush up, no, to improve my English.  But Im sure, Ill not only be in the school NO, I will go to the town and all its beautiful places.  Because Fort Lauderdale is a city I love.
Story Nr. 1  (written by Rudi Huber to his teacher)

Dear Moira
You remember: We were in contact by e-mail during November and December. For more than two months we wrote mail to a person we never saw. Last week, it
was on Thursday, we met the first time. 70 days after our first mail we met
the first time in person. Wow, what a feeling!

As I was waiting for you in the Giardino Bar, I asked myself: Who will come
in the next few minutes? Who is the big unknown? How young or how old is she?
How does she look? And above all: *What does my future teacher think about my
english-knowledge? Its amazing. Isnt it?

Okay, our first meeting is over. And Im absolutely happy. Im happy to have
a teacher like you. Young, spontaneous, sympathetic and able to talk about
different subjects. Im sure, well have an interesting and amusing time.

A really lucky coincidence is the fact, that you come from Canada. Canada,
what a beautiful country. I told you: I been there two times. Once on the
east-coast and once on the west-coast. For my first visit - it was in 1995 -
I flew to Calgary, where I rented a car. And by car I drove to Alberta, where
I visited famous resorts like Banff, Lake Louise and Jasper.  During my stay
in Lake Louise, I stayed in a very nice Lodge at Lake Moraine. Do you know
this wonderful area? Its an incredible nice place there. And by the way,
Maybe you dont know: On a canadian banknote, you can see a painting of Lake
Moraine. There is the small lake in the forground and the mountains named Ten
Peaks in the background.

Two weeks later I went to Vancouver. Wow, Vancouver. For me the most
beautiful town I have visited untill now. There are friendly people, a lot of
green spaces in the middle of the town, a very attractive shopping-area with
a lot of smalls Stores and what was important for me were the many, many
excellent restaurants.  But above all: There is uncomparable scenery around
Vancouver. During my stay in Vancouver, I also visited Victoria Island. The
reason was to take a whale-watching-tour. With small Zodiacs we crossed the
sea between the islands near Viktoria and during two hours we saw countless
Orcas, Dolphins and Seals. Do you understand, that all these experiences are
unforgetable? Simply unforgetable. Alberta and British Columbia in three
weeks: I know, its too short to see all the fantastic scenery. But its also
a perfect reason to go once again.

Thats my story about my first trip to Canada. About my second trip to the
east-coast Ill write you another time. For today, Ill finish my homwork and
look forward to meeting you on Thursday. Kindest regards, Ruedi
