| The NOVAMOG Story Carlisle All-Ford Nationals June 3-5, 2005 Carlisle, PA This year's event was the 20th anniversary of the 1985 Merkur XR4Ti and all stops were pulled by the Merkur Club of America (MCA) and Carlisle Productions to make this the most memorable All-Ford National meet in years. Carlisle offered up a low mileage XR to give away as a showfield raffle prize which was won by Merkur IMON member Jason Liss. Dave Planakis donated an XR as an MCA Awards Banquet door prize which was won by NOVAMOGGER Morgan F. from Richmond, VA. This was a record year for Carlisle Productions with over 2,400 Fords on the showfield. The Merkur Club set an all time record with 236 Merkurs (previous record: 162) on the showfield and everyone was astounded that Merkurs represented nearly 10% of all cars in the show. At least 62 of those Merkurs arrived in one convoy of unimaginable proportions, beginning with just two Merkurs starting from California several days earlier! As usual, NOVAMOG had an outstanding showing with approximately 15 XRs on the showfield and several members winning showfield awards or recognition by the MCA. Aside from Morgan F. winning the XR from Dave Planakis, Rob MacDonald won a showfield award, Peter Denbigh was recognized by the MCA with a Friendship Award, and Steve Duchene was recognized by the Club with an award for consistently plugging away on his project XR. But it was really more about being there and being part of the mystique of Merkurs. The parties each night in the hotel parking lot are really something and when the cops show up, you know you really got something going on. Here's the NOVAMOG Story in pictures.
