Convoy begins as it leaves Fairfax headed for Leesburg, VA to pick up more Merkheads. We originally planned to take I-81 via Winchester, VA all the way to Carlisle but major road construction changed plans to the more scenic Route 15.
Total one-way miles to Carlisle, PA: 130
Convoy Starts at Fairfax Station, VA
After a brief stop in Leesburg, VA, we headed up Route 15 north to stop in Thurmont, MD to meet more NOVAMOGGERS.  By the time we left Thurmont, we had 11 Merkurs in the Convoy

Rob MacDonald's 87 XR; won 1st Place in MCA 87 Stock class
Damien Alexander (l) and Jef Herson

NOVAMOGERs on the Showfield
Convoy Stops at Thurmont, MD
Banquet

Dave Compton and Heather with Dave Weiner (standing)
Chillin behind Jason Yancy's 87 XR; Shade was at a premium on Saturday
The NOVAMOG table was situated in the far end of the room and it was too long a shot for good pictures.  After a long day on a hot showfield, it was good to sit in the air conditioned banquet hall and drink as much refreshment of choice as possible.  The food was same as usual and most of us just enjoyed the atmosphere.  Vendors contributed over $3000 in door prizes and many at the NOVAMOG table won something.  Richard Curtis won an TC IC, Richie Franco won hi-temp caliper paint, and Ramona Davis won a copy of Allan Slocum's ECC Handbook.  Also, Rob MacDonald won 1st Place in MCA showfield judging for his 87 XR.

As soon as the banquet was over, we all headed to the hotel parking lot for hours of non-stop tire kicking well into the early morning hours.  It was a great weekend and we're already loooking forward to nex year!  Thanks to the Merkur Club of America for coordinating such an outstanding event.
