If you missed this meet, you definitely missed a good one! Coffee, donuts and Merkurs, what's not to like?
We had about 12 Merkurs there (11 XR and 1 Scorp) plus a Cadillac STS (Rob MacDonald). Also: Jim Gosses and his daughter, Peter Denbeigh, Rich Franco, Tom Rhinesmith, Greg Larson, Dave P, Jason Yancey (yes, he got out of bed in time!), Bob Smith (good to see him again; he has a nice low-mileage Radiant Red 89), Ed Lijewski, Damien Alexander and Richard Curtis. We had Starbucks coffee (thanks Rich Franco) plus doughnuts (thanks Richard Curtis). Someone brought a can of Chock-fulla Nuts coffee (Ed?).
Dave P put Gosses's Scorpio up the lift (it has a bad guibo, Jim says the third one)... then Harrisonburg's Peter Denbeigh's much modified XR (some really sweet engine mods, I/C, rotated inlet, header, etc. Dave P announced he can now weld aluminum. It was great to see so many Merkurs lined up (at one point we had about 6 or 7 black XRs all in a row). Pretty cold weather (but sunny skies) kept most Merkheads indoors but thanks to DaveP's hospitality, we were toasty. A good meet. |
