There's always good in any Merkur meet but this one was extra fun as Damien A, Greg L, Ed L, and Rich F met for coffee followed by a trip to the Deutsch Marque Concours at Avenel Golf Course in Potomac, MD to visit Mike H. and his vintage Mercedes at the car show.
We met at 9:00 am at the Starbucks in the Potomac Shopping Center which was a treat in itself with the parking lot being filled with nearly as much "German Steel" as in the car show. Nearly every kind of high end luxury car was parked in the lot. We talked for more than an hour and the main point of conversation was the story of Greg's trip to NYC in his white XR (Think "Ferris Behuler's Day Off" with a twist.)
From coffee, we moved to the car show to see Mike H and his vintage 1966 Mercedes-Benz 230SL on display in the show. The event is a held annually held by the DC area Porsche, BMW and Mercedes clubs. This year, for the first time, they also included Audi with 4 cars represented. We wondered what the event organizers would say to including that other German Marque in some future show????
Mike's Mercedes is absolutely beautiful in every respect and you can tell from the gleam in his eyes that this car may just have a bit more garage space than his XR does! Here's a link to the story of his Mercedes if you missed it:
