| NOVAMOG met on Sunday August 17, 2003 at Dave Planakis' shop in Fredericksburg, VA for burgers and camaraderie. With 10 Merkurs, a Lincoln Navigator and a E36 325iC BMW, it was a smaller gathering than last time but no less fun. Damien A. arrived in his recently purchased 2003 Navigator; it wasn't hard to understand the smile on his face. Maybe the Scorpio's many fabled qualities have met their match! The Navigator has so many gizmos and gadgets one practically needs a class to get schooled up on it. It not only has heated seats, but they are air-conditioned as well. Bun warmers and Bun Chillers. Now that's cool. The truck is awesome. Our long haulers were Superman Greg L. and wife, (WVA), Bob B. (Yorktown, VA) and Tom R. (Richmond, VA). The remainder of the gang were all the MD/DC/NoVA usuals. Thanks to Dave C, who jumped in to man the grill, whipping up the burgers and dogs. Dave Planakis gave a short but timely talk on how to fix a loose oil dipstick. He noted oil wetness around the dipstick on one of the 87XRs and show us how to solve this problem quickly with either the boot from an old spark plug wire set or using some standard fuel line hose and a hose clamp as shown in the photos to the right. With either the plug boot or fuel line, the idea is that the rubber slides down the outside of the dipstick, holding the stick tightly in place. Pretty slick. Thanks again for Dave for hosting another great meet. Hartwood Automotive 1713 Warrenton Rd Fredericksburg, VA (540) 752-2300 |
