NOVAMOG
The Northern Virginia Merkur Owners Group
28 April 2002 Coffee Meet
Woodley Gardens Shopping Center,
Rockville, MD
We met at 1000, Sunday 28 April 2002 at the Woodley Gardens Shopping Center in Rockville, MD for coffee, tire kicking and bench racing.  Our original plan was to proceed to the All Ford Car Show sponsored by the National Capital Region Mustang Club at Montgomery College but our enthsiasm for Merkurs (coupled with a steady downpour) had us quickly ditch plans to attend the show.  Five XRs showed up and we spent over two hours sharing comraderie, coffee and notes on all of our Merkurisms.  Its meets like these that always turn out to be the best fun and no one could not believe two hours had past by the time the meeting broke up..

Chevist Mitchell shows off his Merkur Specialist sport coat, jacket and hat
It was Chevist Mitchell's first time out.  He was referred to NOVAMOG by list member Mike Huges and like Mike, he sold Merkurs when they were new!  Chevist's White 88 automatic XR recently had its engine replaced.  In fact, he just got the car back from Dave Planakis who worked absolute magic getting the last of the nagging Merkurisms fixed.  The car is now purring like a kitten.

Greg came down from Martinsbug, WVA with his 87XR that was also just recently back from Dave P's with a T5 conversion from automatic.  He's very happy with the car and its looking every bit as good as new.  The rest of the crew attending were Rob MacDonald, Damien Alexander, Rich and Richie Franco.

Rob MacDonald decided to swing by the Montgomery College Ford/Mustang show on his way home and to his suprise, the show was in progress!  He found a variey of other Ford/Lincoln/Mercury Models there including a Lincoln LSC, a suicide door Lincoln convertible, Falcons, trucks and other.  Many had been there since 7am!  He introduced himself to some of the Mustang club officials, and lo and behold, had we showed up they would have WELCOMED US!!!!!   Oh well, better luck next year!
