                         Hanford Haley Broad
  The death of Hanford Broad,75,of Holmesville occured after a lengthy
illness at the Bath Hospital.Mr Broad is survived by his wife,the
former Helen Lockhart,one son Norman at home.Four daughter,Leota
and Julia at home,Mrs Peter Draper (Reta) Wakefield and Mrs.Dennis
Rosevear (Dorothy) Jacksonville.One sister,Mrs.Charles Cochrane
Lerwick.
  Funeral services were held from his late home on Sunday to the Prim-
itive Baptist Church,Holmesville,with the pastor Rev.Philip A.
Giberson,officiating.Hymms by the choir were "sweet bye and bye",
Eastern Gate"and "Good Night and Good Morning."George Mclean sang
"Where the Roses Never Fade."Pallbearers were Ronald Broad,Emery
Broad,Eugene Broad and Duncan.
  Inspite of the worst storm of the season the church was full and
floral tributes were beautiful.The funeral was directed by Kilcollins
Funeral Home,Bath.Interment was in the church cemetery.
                                Myrtle Rees
Ripley-Mrs.Myrtle D. Rees,86,widow of Leslie Rees,died Tuesday
December 19,1967 in a Dexter hospital following a short illness.She
was born at Mars Hill,March 19,1881 the daughter of George and Evelyn
(Tompkins)Broad.In her earlier years she was a teacher at Mars Hill.
Surviving are six daughters,Mrs Hazel Downing of Ripley,Mrs.Beulah
Nelson of Stoney Point,N.Y.,Mrs Amy Rotell of Haverstraw,N.Y.,Mrs
Elizabeth Smith of Kennebunk,Mrs Bernice Dailey of Old Orchard,Mrs.
Coris Haskell of Dover-Foxcroft,two sons,William of Stoney Point and
Harold of Sangerville;grandchildren,neices and nephews.
   Funeral services will be held Friday at 1:30 p.m.in the first Bap-
ist church of Dexter with the Rev.Philip Mather officiating.Burial
will be in Mt.Pleasant Cemetery,Dexter,next spring.Friends may
call at the residence in Ripley.

                              Ora E Broad
   Mars Hill,Nov.23,-Ora E Broad,64,died at his home on Pleasant
street Tuesday night following a long illness.He was born in Mars
Hill April 30,1891,son of George and Evelyn (Tompkins) Broad and was
a lifelong resident of Mars Hill.
   Surviving are his wife Nellie (Cullins) Broad;two brothers Guy and
Lee both of Mars Hill;one sister,Mrs.Myrtle Rees of Dexter;and
several nephews and neices and cousins.
   The remains are at the residence on Plesant street where friends may
call Thurday.Funeral services will be conducted in the home,Friday
at 2:30 o`clock,by the Rev.Warden Mowatt,of the Mars Hill Apostolic
church.Interment will be at Kings Grove Cemetery.

Arthur L. Broad
  Mars Hill-Funeral services for Arthur Lee Broad who died at Fort
Fairfield hospital Friday,were held at the chapel of Graves Funeral
home,Mars Hill Monday afternoon at 2 o`clock,with Rev.Beal pastor
of Faith Baptist Church of Blaine officiating assisted by Rev.Richard
O.Greene pastor of the Penticostal Church,Mars Hill.A resident of
Mars Hill most of his life,he was born March 6,1877 in this town,
son of the late George and Evelyn (Tompkins) Broad.
He is survived by a daughter ,Mrs.Myrtle Rees of Dextor and by eight grand
children and 13 great grand-children.
Mrs.Fay Greene was a otgist for the service and the singers were Misses
Veria and Rhonda Greene.Bearers were Richard Rideout,Wallace Mahan
and James Orser.Burial will be in Kings Grove Cemetery,Mars Hill in
the spring.
