Artists??? (30/1/2002)
Here’s an ICQ dialogue between my friend and
me. Quite interesting.
l
you want to be referred as
a musician or an artist?
musician
l
what are the reasons le?
if even the
now-a-days pop singers call themselves 'artists', i don't want to be called in
the same way.
i'm a person who knows that i'm making music, but not
together any kind of apperances, images, etc
l
to me, I never think of
those stars as artists, they are either actors, singers or stars.
yes, me too
l
if I adopt the strict
definition of artists, do you think you're one.
l
(BTW, I think only Chow Yun
Fat qualifies as an artist)
i don't think there's ever a strict definition of
'artist'.
if so, firstly, how do you define 'art'?
everybody can become an artist if he/she says that those
stuff done by him/her is an art work
l
don't fall into the trap
that everything has a definition.
l
there are many things that
do not have definition, but you can tell something is/isn't that when you look
at it.
that's a gd point.
if so, my answer would be -
'everyone' can be an 'artist'
l
you really do think so?
art is sth very personal. somebody may think that they
themselves produces art, but others may not agree.
'everyone can be an artist' is in a broad view.
and to me, there can be 'no artist'. art can be everything.
but it's nothing until you really put your heart in it. and there will not be a
person who can put his/her heart in everything.
l
but do you think you're
producing art?
i hope
