"Waiting"
Waiting
By: Dannielle Isaac
Our past is filled with mistakes
I'll admit to my part
My heart here for you to take
But you're not ready to start
I give you time and space
Waiting with open arms
Tears streaming down my face
Oh, how silence harms
The days become weeks
Weeks quickly turn to months
Your love, my heart seeks
A flame that draws moths
Time has passed slowly
I'm ready to take a step
For my heart's sake solely
My love, my memories kept
My happiness returned
New thoughts, new love
Our bridge is burned
Made peace with love
Then you send a question
My emotions spew forth
Creating so much tension
You ask what you're worth
My answer, unreachable
A mix of guilt and resolve
Our love was a fable
A problem for me to solve
The moral of our parting
Knowing what I must do
I reach for a brass ring
And say goodbye to you
