Noumidia.tk Webmaster : 1) How did you start?

Mohammed Alaloushi (Noumidia Group):"Firstly, Thank you Mohammed for this good opportunity, that will allow us to contact with our brothers that live in and outside our country. We say to you " Tanamirth" and Tanamirth to all those who are interested in these, we are really longing to know and talk with our brothers Imazighan, because what we are doing is for people and we are for people and people are for us, It is this way. Well, let's come back to your question. I was 5 years old when I started singing; I was interested in Tamazight Music. Since my childhood, I was always wishing to send my message to my brothers Imazighan, then with time I grew up, until when I met Fuad, who is here with us now, we made a group which contained of 3 or 4 members, we are on the way, we are 3 now in principle, Me, Fuad, and Mounir, but when we have a concert or an invitation by an association, we look for our friends, to make a real group of 5,6,Or 7 members."

2) Why did you choose this name?

"Noumidia is a historical name in Tamuzgha (North Africa), It's so deep in the history, it's our anteriority which we are proud of, They were looking for the freedom of the land, and people. It was an empire before the Christ, and Islam, it fought Rome empire many years ago, that's why we have chose this name, because it's an Amazigh name, and that's why we chose it as an artistic name."

3) What encouraged you to publish your first album?

"Actually, I can tell you that what we had is what helped us basically, because we had something that we trusted our selves for to be accepted by the people, before we made our first album, we had many encouragements from the students in the universities, we found people that like this style, It was in 1996."

4) When is your first time to sing with public?

"In Noumidia Association, in 1995 In Alhoceima city, which is no longer existed, but I had already done a concert with Hafid Thifridjas in Tanger. But here in my city it's with Noumidia Association."

5) How do you write your words?

"For the first tape I've made in 2001, I wrote it alone, I wrote the songs and composed their melodies. When I published it, Fuad helped me in the arrangement of the songs. I am inspirited by the nature the loneliness and the calm, it's a talent from our God, I took this way, I found that the "clean" songs is the only thing that would me go on, I didn't want to make songs that would be forgotten after 1 OR 2 MONTHS? I wanted my songs to still alive, and be useful for anytime, as our brothers did in the seventies, something that doesn't die, and this is my way forever, if the God wills."

6) How long does it take you to make one song?

"One song takes me along time sometimes, it depends; for example, I make some words today, and I don't work with it the next day, I go back to it after 15 or 16 days or maybe more, then I continue This song."

7) Do you write down your songs?

"No! I don't write them, I just memorize them"

8) Could you write In Thifinagh?

"Yes! I can, but I have never written down my songs, neither in Thifinagh, Latin, nor Arabic.

9) What do you say about yourself, as a new artist in Rif that has just appeared?

"Let me talk in my name and our group name, we are singers here in our Rif, we hope to do better things than those we have already done for our public, we are making music for our people, as I've told you, we don't do these things only for ourselves, but we are working all together doing our best for to send our message, we wish that our people are proud of what we are doing"

10) Do you plan to sing with an Ashalhi, Akbayli,Asousi ... ?

"We hope that, I have had this plan, it needs help, we need some possibilities to make a song with Ashalhi, Assousi, or Akbayli. We feel that we don't have enough freedom in our country, we do things in dark, and at the same time we didn't get any aid, why not with Atwargi or Canari? There will be a try to sing a real Amazigh song and why not our music will be heard around the world, not only in a certain region?"

11) How do you see the Music in Rif?

"It's those listen who can answer this question, there have been periods some groups had done their best for Tamazight. Mohammed 3Assid said that Imazighanused the instruments when they tried to express their problem, because they were controlled. This is the kind music that plays its role in Rif, I consider a real Rifian song is the one that doesn't "die", I mean the one that is useful for any time, like Wallid Mimoin, Khalid izri etc.."

12) You sing about Tamazight culture and identity etc, do you plan to make something higher?

"The God is the only who knows about the future, we are doing the cause, we hope to realize something that is higher, we need a strong basis to reach that, like Idir Music which became international. Then it's not far, we can reach that with hard work. We have to make something modern in an old aspect."

13) What's the problem with your new album, which is not yet in the market?

"We have made the first album in 2001, the second one is registered but it's in trouble, big and small troubles. As Fuad said, you are working, doing your best, but when you go to the editor, he doesn't look to the effort you have done to make the album, the problem was with the editor, you gave him the rights to produce the album, I did trust him, but when it was time to get our money, the editor ignored everything. The biggest problem is that I was not alone; some kids were with me, as well as a girl from Sous that helped me to sing in Tassousit, these are the troubles. The editor said choose between two things: the first is to wait until the album is sold, or we won't get anything. The contract I made with him is the cause because I was honest with him, I didn't expect that from him at all. The tape would be in the market the last tenth of July 2003.

The album will be in the market if the problems are solved. Most the editos in Rif look for the summer to publish the album, this problem is in Alhoceima and Nador, all is based on the summer, becouse the editor is not an artist, if he was so, he would publish the tape in January, or November, or anytime in the winter, becouse if the album was made in a profissional way, it would be sold anywhen. If the problem still we will sent go to the court, we wish to resolve it as soon as possible."

14) What do you want to say to your fans?

"Well, I say to them "Tanamirth" and to all those who want Tamazight, and those who have pride for it. We are working for what we feel, many people come to us and ask us about why don't we sing about the love, but we are singing for our case Tamazight which is not yet applied, we don't live a complete life without our identity, that's why I say to my fans to keep on their Tamazight. Also to our brother that live outside our country, I call their parents to teach them Tamazight. A Mexican reasercher said, " I like the people that learn their identity, culture and knowledge first, then he would look to something else."

15) What's your message to the Amazigh organization abroad Morocco?

"I wish that they could do more, because as I see, if there's a work from there, it's not like if it's from here. Here it's a little bit tough, the government doesn't allow you to talk about those things."

16) Would you sing abroad Morocco,if an organisation invites you a day?

"Yes why not, we work for to send our message anywhere, we are not working for to earn money basically, but it's only our hobby, and if we receive encouragements, we would develop it to be as our job"

17) Are you going to continue singing?

"Yes of course, music, is our life, it's our water, food and calm. if we have any trouble we refresh our mind after singing a song."

18) Will you sing about love?

"Love is also a good thing, but you have to sing about love in a clean way, you can send it to a girl and so on. Why not? We have already done one song in our first album " Yadjis Narif Inou " which is about love."

19) What's your last word?

"Well, we thank you a lot for this opportunity, and many thanks to our brothers abroad and inside Morocco, it's really a surprise for us, we were not waiting for it, it's an encouragement, no one ask about us, neither Radio, nor TV. Tanamirth Ouma Inou."
