The Basingstoke Wella Bison have snapped up top young British international Marc Levers.
Levers, was last season the Isle of Wight Raiders' top scoring Brit and his league return of 16+16 from 25 games also meant he finished third in the British goal scoring race for the English National Premier League. The season before the 21-year-old top scored for the Nottingham Lions, while also making 25 appearances for Superleague outfit Nottingham Panthers. In November last year, he scored on his senior Great Britain debut as helped the host nation to a 6-1 win over Romania. |

Panthers coach Paul Adey is edging closer to the team's next recruitment announcements. Explained general manager Gary Moran : "Paul is considering several options both for the remaining slots up front and on defence. To a large extent we are waiting on some answers from a couple of guys and on the basis of their decisions we will go one of three routes for the last slots".
Update concerning shirt launch, The new design of the Panthers shirt will be unveiled in early August and the players will gather at the Victoria Centre shopping Mall in early September a few days before the first game to be presented with their playing shirts.
Season ticket holders are also reminded that they have until this Wednesday to buy seats (in person at the box office) before they go on general sale. |

The Nottingham Panthers are hopeful of announcing another signing in the next 24 hours, they are currently awaiting the paperwork to come through. The announcement could be made over the weekend. One player who won't be returning to the Panthers next season is defenseman Clayton Norris, who has decided to retire to take a job with the Royal Bank of Canada.
The Panthers have also announced today that this season's Shirt launch will be on 4th September, again it will be in the Victoria Centre. The shirts will actually be unveiled on 6th August to the press. |

The Panthers are considering an offer from BNL-side Hull Thunder about whether or not to play a challenge game in early September. Hull already have a challenge game arranged against Panthers arch-rivals the Sheffield Steelers on August 31.
The game is unlikely to go ahead at present due to Panthers' players arriving in Britain later than usual due to the GB matches in Nottingham. Hull's General Manager Mike O'Connor believes that may scupper Thunder's plans and said: "There's still no movement on that one. Their general manager Gary Moran is talking to Panthers' coach Paul Adey. We want to squeeze in a game between Sheffield and the start of our Findus Cup campaign on September 7. Unfortunately, Panthers players are only flying into the country on the GB weekend. I may be wrong, but I suspect Paul won't want to play us due to their lack of preparation time."

Lavoie to Cardiff?
DEFENCEMAN Daryl Lavoie is the latest ice hockey import to declare his wish to play for the newlook Cardiff Devils. The former Nottingham Panthers player, who was with Findus British National League Hull Thunder last season, has contacted the Devils to say: "I would love to play for you."
New owner Chris McSorley has a growing list of names, both British players and Canadian imports, as he rebuilds the club for their FBNL campaign. Steve Thornton, Vezio Sacratini, Frank Evans, Kip Noble, Lavoie and Marco Poulson are imports on his list of signings, while Welsh players Lee Cowmeadow, Jason Stone, Neil Francis, James Manson, Simon Keating and Jonathon Phillips have all been contacted.

It is being reported that Ayr coach Paul Heavey has expressed an interest in signing Ex-Panthers netminder Eoin McInerney. McInerney spent last season with rivals Sheffield Steelers. |

Solihull MK Kings are building steadily with the signing of Nottingham Panthers defenceman Brent Pope. At 6' 3" and 225 lbs, Brent will bring size, toughness and leadership to the Kings for the upcoming season. Canadian born Brent has been playing in the ISL and the ECHL for much of his career. He was in the Cardiff team which won the ISL championship in 96/97 and has recently become a GB International. |

10.07.2002 Panthers Sign RW Jason Clarke
The GMB Nottingham Panthers have made another gritty hardworking signing in the shape of much talked about Jason Clarke who has played mostly in the East Coast Hockey League in North America.
Said Panthers coach Paul Adey: "Jason is a real team guy and he isn�t afraid to get his nose dirty, but what I like about the scouting reports is that he can play good two-way hockey as well as look after himself. He has been getting more than a point every other game in a pretty tough professional league."
The GMB Panthers are looking to add three defencemen and two more forwards to the squad and progress on negotiations and scouting continues. |

9.07.2002 Panthers to break Season Ticket Records
The Panthers have today annnounced that season ticket sales are heading for record levels. They revealed that sales to the general public are 250 up on last year and when sponsors are taken into account the total is closer than ever to the two thousand mark.
The Panthers have also announced a special deal for the upcoming challenge cup fixtures. Panthers will play three home games in the round-robin section of the cup against Coventry (Sat Sept 7), Bracknell (Sat Sept 14) and London (Tues Sept 17). Any fan who buys all three tickets at the same time can take advantage of big savings - 3xGold=�39 � 3xadult silver/bronze=�33 � 3x concession=�27 and 3xchildren=�18.
Tickets for the challenge cup games will be on sale to season ticket holders only from Wednesday July 24th 2002 in person at the box office. Season tickets will need to be shown. These are being sent out in the next week or so. By giving season ticket holders this priority they should be able to buy their particular seats. Challenge cup tickets go on general sale on August 5th. |
