The Superleague unveiled details of its exciting fourth competition this afternoon, which will be known as "The Ahearne Trophy". The Nottingham Panthers won the Ahearne Trophy in 1956 when it was originally played for as a knock-out Tournament between 1952 and 1970. The Trophy was won by teams representing England no fewer than five times.
Only this time the Ahearne Throphy is being played in a �Ryder Cup� style Tournament, the first of its kind to be held in the UK. The Superleague�s �Magnificent Seven� will take on German clubs Dusseldorf EG, Eisbaren Berlin, Frankfurt Lions, Hannover Scorpions, Iserlohn Roosters, Revier Lowen Oberhausen and Schwenningen Wild Wings - seven of the DEL�s finest clubs.
The UK will take on the Germans. Each ISL team will compete in two home games against two seperate DEL teams. Each league get's two points for a win, one point for a draw and zero points for a loss. The winner of the Ahearne Trophy will be the league with the most points at the end of the competition. If it's a tie after the last game, the game will go to penalty shots to decide the outcome of the competition.

The London Knights have signed Gerad Adam as a replacement for Doug Searle. 23 year old Gerad has been icing this season for the Edinburgh Capitals in the BNL following the demise of the Newcastle Jesters, who he had agreed to join. He should make his London debut tomorrow night. |

Sunday saw the conclusion of the hockey weekend at the National Ice Centre, Nottingham. Sunday's Action began with GB beating Romania 6-1 before the Fife Flyers beat the Coventry Blaze to win the Findus Challenge Cup.
GB
GB played Romania in a challenge match, ahead of the World Championships next year in Hungary where the two sides will meet again. GB's completed an impressive win over Romania thanks to goals from Panthers defenceman Brent Pope (now eligible for GB following his wedding), Ex-Panthers Marc Levers and Marc Twaite, other goals came from Strachan, Randell and Warren Tait who's goal was assisted by Paul Moran. Warren Tait was also named Man of the Match.
Findus Challenge Cup
The Fife Flyers beat the Coventry Blaze 6-3 thanks to a hat-trick from Karry Biette plus goals from M.Dutiaume, Monteith and Morrison. Ex-Panther Steve Roberts and Claude Dumas (2) scored in reply for the Blaze. |

24.11.2001 Anglet Hormadi 3 - London Knights 5
Bob Leslie joined the fans in singing the national anthem today after the Knights beat Anglet 3-5 on the second day of the continental cup. Last night, Anglet lost 4-1 to hosts Valerenga.
Former Panthers Favourite Mark Kolesar and Ex-Devils favourite Vezio Sacratini both recorded braces of goals, with Kim Ahlroos picking scoring the other. Mike Barrie picked up a match penalty for spearing so will miss tomorrows game. |

22.11.2001 London to host Challenge Cup Final
The Ice Hockey Superleague has selected the London Arena � home of the London Knights � as the host venue for the 2002 Superleague Challenge Cup Final.
The Prestigious Final will be played on Sunday 3rd March, and contested by the two teams that qualify from the semi-final stages of the competition, which are due to be held in January. |

Bracknell are resurrecting the "WELLA CUP" with the Basingstoke Bison - A competiton they started when both teams were in the Superleague. The cup will be played over 2 legs with the first leg at the Beehive on Wednesday 28th November 2001 (Face Off - 8pm). |

20.11.2001 ISL to sue over TV Deal
The Ice Hockey Superleague has commenced litigation against Premium TV Ltd (PTV), in the High Court of Justice in London. The Superleague alleges that PTV wrongfully 'repudiated' a TV Rights Agreement entered into with Superleague in November 2000 by which Superleague granted PTV certain exclusive television broadcasting rights in respect of Superleague matches for an initial term of four years. The Superleague also alleges that PTV failed to pay an instalment of the licence fee.
The following quote is from Superleague's Chief Executive, Ian Taylor
"We are devastated that our fans have been unable to watch their favourite sport on TV so far this season as a result of PTV's failure to broadcast any of our matches. We felt we could not let this matter pass unchallenged and therefore we had no choice but to file this lawsuit. As a business we have suffered considerably, most importantly through the loss of sponsorships. And because PTV held the exclusive rights, we were unable to seek an alternative broadcaster". |

Zoran Kozic of the Haringey Greyhounds has been banned for a year following a high sticking incident against Romford's Marc Long. The ban follows much debate by fans from all leagues concerning players who use their sticks as a weapon and should they be allowed to play Ice Hockey again. |

Superleague secretary Brain Storey is to quit at the end of the month he puts his decision down to being sick of travelling. Storey has been with the Superleague since the start of the second season and has been travvelling 180 miles a day from his home in the North West to the ISL headquarters in Leicestershire. Storey has been offered a job as General Manager at a firm of Solicitors, just 200 yards from his front door. This is seen as a huge loss to the Superleague.
Adam Smith
Former Bracknell Bees and Sheffield Steelers defenceman Adam Smith has signed for Trenton Titans of the East Coast Hockey League. Smith who won the Superleague title with the Bees in 1999/2000 and the Steelers in 2000/2001 was hoping for a job in Sweden or Germany but that has fallen through. |

The London Knights have today announced the departure of defenceman Doug Searle due to personal reasons. Searle has decided to return to North America to be woth his young family.
Ex-Belfast Giant Kory Karlander has today joined former Panthers defenceman Ryan Gillis at the Jackson Bandits (ECHL) from the Peoria Rivermen. Karlander ahd played 11 games for Peoria scoring 7 points (7 assists).
Sheffield Steelers captain Paul Kruse has been banned for 2 games following an ISL Disciplinary Committee review of the steelers match against Ayr on 11th November. For the Match penalty received during the game Kruse receives a 1 game suspension and a fine of �250. In addition, under supplementary discipline, the Committee has awarded a 1 game suspension and a fine of �250 for obscene gestures made by Kruse during the same match. |

GB International Dave Clarke made his London Knights debut during last nights game against the Panthers after agreeing to join the Knights for their upcoming Continental Cup tour to Oslo. Clarke will not only accompany the team to Norway but will also play midweek Superleague games for London and sometimes train with the Knights but he will continue to play for Milton Keynes in the BNL at the weekends.
Bracknell Bees� in-form forward Mark Cadotte, has been named as the Sekonda �Face to Watch� for the month of October 2001. Cadotte topped the Sekonda Superleague�s points scoring chart in October with a sensational tally of 9 goals and 2 assists for 11 points in just 7 games. |

Bracknell
Bees coach Enio Sacilotto has pulled off a key signing with the agreement of 26 year old Canadian forward Eric Bertrand to join the Bees squad. Bertrand is now awaiting the issue of a work permit and Sacilotto is hoping he will be in the UK in time to play Belfast on Saturday.
Rob Donovan
The ISL Disciplinary Committee has automatically reviewed the Match Penalty for head-butting awarded to London Knights player Rob Donovan during their Sekonda Superleague match against Manchester Storm on Thursday 1st November 2001.
The Disciplinary Committee has decided that the original penalty, which carries an automatic 6 game suspension and a �250 fine, will stand and no further action will be taken. |

The Superleague have today announced the rest of the All Star team for the Challenge against the GB national side to take place in Nottingham on Friday 14th December. There will be 2 Panthers involved for the ISL All-stars, Joining P.C Drouin who was announced in the Starting Line-up, is Greg Hadden.

Manchester have announced the release of defenceman Justin Hocking from his contract. The decision to release Hocking was taken in relation to on-ice performances that Head Coach Daryl Lipsey considered to be below the standard expected from a player of his experience and that required to play at Superleague level. |

Milestone for Dave Longstaff
Great Britain captain David Longstaff made history tonight, scoring the first goal by a British player in the Swedish Elitserien. His goal, just 22 seconds from the end of the 1st period, sent Djurg�rden into the locker room 2 goals ahead, and the Stockholm side skated out 5-2 victors.
Longstaff almost had another point against his name during the final period, when Djurg�rden had a two-man advantage. His shot did not go in but in the resulting play, his line picked up the 4-2 insurance goal. The 27-year-old from Newcastle-upon-Tyne has worked his way back into regular ice-time after a knee injury made him sit out 2 games. |
