Papa's Car
The story behind the song: My twin grandsons call me Papa, and they love anything that rolls ~ especially cars. They are living with us for a little while and they love going for a ride in "Papa's car" and tend to talk about it quite often. This recording begins with a short exchange with Gabe. His brother Aidan was having a little grumpy spell, so I took Gabe down to my basement recording room and let him explore all my "stuff". He was quite taken with the sound of his own voice and the whole idea of a microphone and I recorded a little bit of our conversation just for the heck of it.
A few weeks later my wife and I were given the use of a beautiful house on the shore of Lake Ontario for a week. It was a perfect opportunity for me to write some serious music ~ perhaps a classic tune about the true meaning of life. Instead all I could think about were my two year old twin grandsons and how much they loved riding in Papa's car.
After I wrote the song I thought it might be cute to add Gabe's small conversation. Hope you like......
We're gonna go riding in my Papa's car
We'll wave to the kids we pass along the way
We'll come back home at the end of our ride
Papa's car, Papa's car
We're gonna go fast and we're gonna go far
Papa's car, Papa's car
We'll drive past horses and cows and pigs
Papa's car, Papa's car
Big tractor trailers and things that dig
Papa's car, Papa's car
Papa's car, Papa's car
We'll wave to the duckies by the shore of the bay
Papa's car, Papa's car
We'll make funny faces behind our Papa's back
Papa's car, Papa's car
We'll bounce up and down on the railroad track
Papa's car, Papa's car
Papa's car, Papa's car
We'll eat macaroni when we get inside
Papa's car, Papa's car
We'll put on our jammys and we'll wish on a star
Papa's car, Papa's car
And we'll dream about riding in our Papa's car
Papa's car, Papa's car
