The God of Us All (Mike)
Mike is a real person I know who is a resident of at a group home in the little town where I live. The lyrics to this song are quite thought provoking, especially the line, "But the truth that you seek is beyond your comprehension,
Why, even these prophets are confused by this dream." I must admit, I'm a bit confused myself!

A few nights ago I found myself dreaming
It was Heaven I know because the Angels were singing
They beckoned me in to sit at their table
I knew Mike on Earth, he lived in the group home
The God of us all said to me, you are troubled
Then He smiled and He said, I am sorry to disappoint you
Mike placed his hands on Mohammed and Jesus
I woke the next day in familiar surroundings
The Mike that I knew was elated to see me
A more curious dream I cant ever recall
My body had died and my soul had gone to Heaven
I saw myself standing outside a Great Hall
Their song filled the air and their wings brushed my hand
And inside the Hall were gathered the great prophets
Of every religion being practiced by man
The offered me bread and wine if Id like
They said, the God of us all wishes to see you
I lifted my eyes, and before me stood Mike
His thinking was slow, his frame frail and small
The Mike that I knew could not read a Bible
Yet, He stood here before me, the God of us all
On Earth is despair and you cant understand
How I, so almighty, can allow such tribulation
Why I dont dispel evil with a wave of my hand
Id be the first to admit that Im not what I seem
But the truth that you seek is beyond your comprehension
Why, even these prophets are confused by this dream
They smiled and they laughed with genuine mirth
The Hall came alive in a joyful celebration
And the God of us all led the dance of rebirth
My bedroom awash in rich earthly light
I put on my clothes and walked over to the group home
I rang the front doorbell and asked to see Mike
His circle of visitors historically small
And there in his hug was the truth Id been seeking
In his smile I saw clearly the God of us all
