URBAN GODS

    As you may recall from my stories or from my book, Junk Food for Thought, each city produces a collective lifeforce from its inhabitants, a macrocosm of the public consciousness.  This force can manifest itself as an Urban God.  These spirits sometimes vie for dominance over one another.  So, to better your understanding, here is a reference guide for a few of the more noted Urban Gods of the United States and their special powers.

Spirit of Dallas Big D Size and strength He's a big guy.
Spirit of Denver The Mile-High City Falling rocks He sits high above the other cities.
Spirit of Detroit The Motor City Mechanical weapons He drives an armored car and sings Motown songs.
Spirit of Honolulu - Lava bombs She is the greatest of all surfers.
Spirit of Los Angeles City of Angels Quakes, heat waves and tofu missiles She is half fashion model and half hippie.  She seeks to rule the world.
Spirit of Las Vegas Sin City Luck He's a gambler and a close friend of Lady Luck.
Spirit of New Orleans The Big Easy Voodoo spells She uses her powers to summon the loa.
Spirit of Memphis Bluff City Karate and Southern charm He looks like an Elvis impersonator.
Spirit of New York City The Big Apple Traffic, black slush, fingers and attitude The most powerful of all the Urban Gods.  Don't mess with him!
Spirit of Orlando - Magic He's rather child-like and he wears mouse ears.
Spirit of Philadelphia City of Brotherly Love Cheesesteak missiles and swinging Liberty Bell He is passionate about maintaining the ideals of freedom put forth by the Founding Fathers.
Spirit of Pittsburgh Steel City Steel weapons His body is made of steel.
Spirit of Roswell - Cosmic ray gun He has antennas and drives a flying saucer.
Spirit of Salem City of Witches Witchcraft She rides a broom and has a black cat.
Spirit of San Antonio The Alamo City Pistols, salsa bombs and lasso He rides a bronco.
Spirit of San Francisco The Golden Gate City Quakes and flaming weapons He's gay and he drives a cable car.
Spirit of Seattle Emerald City Super speed He's heavily caffeinated.
Spirit of St. Louis The Gateway City Archery He stands guard at the gateway between the East and the West.
Spirits of St. Paul and Minneapolis The Twin Cities Double attack strategy "Paul and Minnie" are the brother/sister fighting duo.
Washington D.C. Capital City Red tape and evasiveness He cannot be harmed as long as he is supported by lobbyists.
