ALIENS
- In movie mythology, an extraterrestrial can be almost anything from a
giant insect to something practically human. Some aliens can be hostile,
while others may be peaceful, but those who come to Earth definitely have
a level of technology far ahead of our own. Although aliens have
been coming to Earth for centuries, all of their visits are kept a closely
guarded secret from the general public. Some government organizations
(such as the Men in Black) have worked to maintain this secret. |
ANDROIDS
- Androids are entirely mechanical beings who resemble humans. They
are by far, the strongest creatures in movie mythology, virtually unstoppable.
Androids possess superhuman intellect in terms of memory, historical and
scientific knowlege, mathematical skills, problem-solving, pattern recognition,
probability, and general work efficiency. Also, they have above normal
speed, reflexes, dexterity, agility and hightened senses. Most androids
have the ability to link directly with other machines and access encrypted
computer files. While many androids are slow to develop emotions
(if they develop them at all), some are pre-programmed with human emotional
states, which can cause psychological instability. However, even
if an android is able to master the range of human emotions, they have
a tendency to remain serious and stoic. |
BANSHEES
- These supernatural beings originated in Ireland, but now travel the world.
They are partly corporial and partly etherial, but they are best known
for their powerful voices. A banshee's scream can be used for destruction
or to direct the banshee's magic. |
CLONES
- Clones are exact genetic copies of existing humans. Some early
experiments in cloning resulted in inaccurate copies, prone to physical
and mental mutations, often making them dangerous. More effecient
cloning projects are sometimes carried out by unscrupulous corporations
which use the clones solely for the purpose of harvesting their organs
for transplants. In mainstream society, free clones are considered
a protected minority. They are often tormented and discriminated
against. |
CYBORGS
- A human who has sustained massive life-threatening injuries (or else
subjected himself to medical experimentation) may be rebuilt as a cyborg.
Cyborg bodies contain numerous artificial components which, in addition
to keeping them alive, often gives them enhanced physical abilities and
senses. Some cyborgs are equipped with interchangeable components
including weapons, scanners, recording devices, or mobile computers. |
DEMONS
- Demons are the dark lords of evil. Under direct orders from the
Devil, demons seek to bring pain and mysery to the world by destroying
all that is good, from attacking the great heros, to preventing everyday
acts of kindness. The purpose of this is to encourage bad behavior
among mortals, thus increasing the number of souls going to Hell, and occasionally
expiditing the Apocalypse. Demons are pure evil, and can only be
destroyed by white magick. |
DRAGONS
- Dragons are an ancient cave-dwelling race of giant winged snake-like
creatures. They can fly, swim under water, and exhale fire.
They are highly intelligent, but often very aggressive. Dragons possess
wisdom which dates back far before the time of humans. In some stories,
dragons are of extraterrestrial origin. |
FAIRIES
- These miniature humanoids are made of living magick. They guide
and control the forces of nature. Some say that a fairy dies every
time a child stops believing in them. |
GARGOYLES
- These large winged creatures turn to stone in daylight, but come to life
at night. Their primary function is to guard castles from invaders
by perching on the high walls and tower ledges to remain ever vigilant. |
GENIES
- Genies, also known as "Djinns" are Arabian spirits who have become trapped
in vessels such as bottles, gemstones or oil lamps. Once released,
a genie is bound to grant three wishes to the person who freed him.
While some genies are honorable and want to serve their new "masters,"
most are tricksters who will grant any wish only to the extent of the exact
wording, but with deliberately harmful side-effects. |
LEPRECHAUNS
- Leprechauns are distant cousins of the fairies and are native to Ireland.
Unlike other fairies, however, leprechauns do not have wings. They
always wear green, and they can often be found at the ends of rainbows,
where they carefully protect their pots of gold. Leprechauns do have
the power to grant wishes, but will often use trickery to get out of it. |
LIVING
DEAD - The lowest form of the undead, sometimes called "zombies."
The living dead come into existence when the soul has already left the
body, but the basic survival instincts continue to function, making them
extremely aggressive. They are typically reanimated by rare forms
of radiation or infections. Their distinguishing characteristics
are the visible signs of rigor mortis and decomposition. The living
dead are sustained by caniballism, and have a particular love for human
brains. They are easily killed by fire or by destroying the head,
but because their condition is quickly passed onto anyone killed by them,
they can replenish their numbers quickly, allowing them to attack in large
groups. |
MUMMIES
- Mummies are undead Egyptians who are preserved by the process of mumification,
and reanimated by a curse read from the Book of the Dead. They are
extremely strong and usually possess magickal powers. They are extremely
protective of their vast treasures, and are relentless against thieves
or those who associate with them. Because mummies are sustained by
Egyptian magick, they can only be defeated by the incantations in the Book
of the Dead or by some magick talisman enchanted by the same curse as themselves. |
MUTANTS
- Mutants are human beings who have random genetic errors. This can
be caused by a natural process of evolution, or by exposure to radiation,
chemicals or retroviruses, either accidentally or deliberately as a science
experiment. Mutants possess incredibly specialized powers, and are
usually given nicknames. Each mutant's power is unique, but some
of the general abilites include: invisibility, telekinesis, eye lasers,
teleportation, telepathy, breathing underwater, flying, the ability to
throw bolts of fire, ice or electricity, or animal skills. |
VAMPIRES
- Vampires are the highest form of the undead. They survive by drinking
human blood (although some lower forms of vampires can survive on animal
blood). Those who survive being bitten by a vampire almost always
become vampires themselves (although in some cases, more than one bite
may be required). Being creatures of the night, most vampires burst
into flames when exposed to sunlight, but some of the rare stronger individuals
can survive minimal exposure. (But their powers are strongest after
sunset.) During daylight hours, some vampires will sleep in coffins.
Vampires can appear human, except during "attack mode" at which time, their
skin becomes pale, thier eyes glow, and their teeth turn into fangs.
Vampires suffer physical burns when exposed to either garlic or to religious
symbols such as crosses, bibles or holy water. Many varieties of
vampire cannot be seen in mirrors, and are strongly compelled against entering
a person's home uninvited. All vampires are strong and fast with
predatory senses, but those closely related to Count Dracula possess all
sorts of supernatural powers such as flying, shapeshifting (such as turning
into bats), hypnosis and psychic awareness. In addition to exposure
to sunlight, vampires can be killed by beheading, or by being stabbed through
the heart with wood. (Some species are also harmed by silver.)
Almost any other injury can be regenerated. Although there are many
stories about the origin of vampires, not one of them is considered "official." |
WARLOCKS
- A witch who has abused his powers is often bound against ever having
powers again. A warlock is such an ex-witch, who uses unscrupulous
means of restoring his powers, such as draining the powers out of other
witches, or by conjuring demons and trading powers for services.
Because warlocks are always adding to their powers, they are extremely
difficult to defeat. |
WEREWOLVES
- A werewolf is a human being most of the time, but will transform either
partially or completely into a wolf during the full moon. They return
to human form at sunrise. In human form, the werewolf typically retains
his hightened senses, particularly hearing and smell. Over time,
some werewolves can even develop the ability to change themselves into
wolves at will. Anyone who survives the bite of a werewolf becomes
a werewolf. A werewolf can survive any injury and regenerate, except
when the injury is caused by a silver weapon such as a sword or a bullet.
There have been rumors about various "cures" which can turn a werewolf
into a normal human again, but such cures are very hard to prove, let alone
find and use. |
WITCHES
- Witches are masters of magick. Their powers are heriditary, but
the ability to actually use their powers requires years of study and practice.
Magick can be either good (white magick) or evil (black magick).
Black witches harness a wide variety of powers to be used in the service
of the hierarchy of demons, and many of their spells are designed to strengthen
themselves or to become immortal. This makes them physically vulnerable
to counterspells. There are many talismans and amulets which can
protect a mortal from an evil witch, but most people agree that the best
defense against an evil witch is a good witch. |
