Protest March held in IIT Kharagpur, India on 19th March, 2003 calls for further actions
By Prof T K Basu

At the call of International Peace Committee and Forum Against War, a protest march was organised by the Peace Committee, IIT KGP, on 19.3.03 in which teachers, staff, students and research scholars from various departments participated in spite of a very bad weather. The War has already caused unprecedented losses of precious human lives and severe damages to some of the rare and invaluable monuments of human civilisation in the Arab world. The wanton destruction of all civic ammenities of a population already suffering from child death and malnutrition for over a decade, has caused waves of protest all over the world including the US and UK. Mr. Bush and Mr. Blair have defied the UN charter, ignored the UN inspectors’ recommendations and forced the war on the entire humanity solely for having a total control over oil in the Arab land.

We, on behalf of the Peace Committee, IIT KGP, appeal to all the students, scholars, members of the faculty, staff, officers and their families and other residents of the campus to join the chorus of protests against this UNJUST WAR by wearing protest badges on March 26, 27 and 28, 2003 and participating in a PEACE MARCH on 27th March (Thursday) at 5.00 PM which will start from the Institute Main Gate.
