Demonstation in Bangalore, India
October 2, 2001

Hundreds of people gathered on the central MG Road in Bangalore on the evening of October 2nd to protest against the "war against terrorism" being orchestrated by the US Government in the wake of the September 11th attacks.

While expressing sorrow over the tragic loss of life in New York and Washington on September 11th, the rally at the same time expressed its opposition to the warmongering and rhetoric of vengeance being unleashed. The participants declared that "The world needs to avoid another bloodbath....What we need is peace and not a chain of terrorism and counter-terrorism; initiatives for dialogue, not war. We must respond to the crisis by working to eliminate all causes of terrorism and promote a just, peaceful and equitable world order". They also expressed their solidarity with the people of West Asia and Afghanistan.
