Antwerp Zoo

The Antwerp Zoo was founded in  1843, making it one of the oldest in the world.  The entrance and most of the buildings are still  the 19th century origionals. The zoo is situated next to the trainstation, in the centre of the city.  There are just over 4000 animals, most of them have recently been given new accomodation. A must see is the completely restored and enlarged accomodation for the 5 indian elephants and the new penguin resort.

There are 3 restaurants and a new built playground for the little ones, the botanical gardens, the planetarium, the nocturama, and lots more...
