| 7/16/01- The day I was told my Neon was totaled. I had to think about what I was gonna do for a car at that point. I started kicking around the idea of getting a POS Honda and saving alittle more money to get a nice 1st gen. | |||||||||||||
| 7/21/01- I test drove some Honda's . A CRX and Civic. Then I got a call from Chris Y. to come take his for a test drive. Ok to be honest this wasnt the greatest experience in my life. And definitely not in Chris' . From this day all that plays in my head is Chris saying " Foot off the clutch , Foot on the gas. You're trying to move a 3000lbs car here." Actually even with that said... I still had to have this car. I knew from the past that a 2nd gen was what was meant for me. | |||||||||||||
| In between these dates- It was looking like I might be leaning more towards getting an RX-7 then the ACR Neon I had been working on . So... My condition of buying a 7 was it had to have a new(er) engine. 2nd would be it had to have a history with its owner and lastly I wanted an honest seller. Of course dont we all...The car has a newer engine in it.. Had about 25K on it. Chris definitely has a history with it. He had owned it for 7 years. And as I would learn he was a very honest seller. | |||||||||||||
| 8/07/01- The exciting day of going to pick up my new car. When I was pulling into Chris' development, He was passing me in the car, saying he would be right back. When he rolled up in the driveway and parked the car, I proceeded to hand him the check. He told me I might want to hold on to that for awhile.. I was thinking "what is it illigal to do business in your driveway in Florida". He tells me that he just changed the sparkplug wires and now the car has no top end power... (Know what it is yet?) So he was gonna take it to his machanic the next day to get it fixed... Ok heres where the very honest seller comes into play. I would have never noticed this problem until and even if then, I was half way home. He could have taken my check and we both moved on with our lives. | |||||||||||||
| 8/08/01- Chris calls me and tells me that the shop wants to keep the car overnight to make sure it is fixed. They did alot of this and alot of that... But thought they found that it was all do the secondary injector ground.. On the way home from the shop Chris feels alot of play in the shifter. He was thinking "oh no, no the transmission" Come to find out it just needed the shifter bushing replaced. Which he had done along with a new Shifter boot. The car just didnt want to go to a new ower. | |||||||||||||
| 8/09/01- The day I had been waiting for ...well almost.. This is the day i got to exchange a check for a piece of paper. This didnt exactly go the greatest either. Lets just say it took another get together to make this a done deal. | |||||||||||||
| 8/10/01- Definitely the day I had been waiting for. I got to take my expensive piece of paper to the DMV and exchange it for another piece of paper and the bonus of a piece of cardboard. This day was extremely strange. I walked into the DMV about 3pm and walked out at about 3:25pm.. The lady that waited on me was extremely nice and there was nothing wrong with any of the paper work.. Well they still have one step left. I got personalized tags....so lets see if they spell it right. | |||||||||||||
| 8/11-12/01-Spent the whole weekend cleaning up the car to my likings. The car got its first taste of Zaino. Anybody who knows my mom should have seen that coming. | |||||||||||||
| 8/19/01- Coming back from Jacksonville Airport the check engine light came on. Lovely trying to drive home on the highway with the car stuttering at high rpms. | |||||||||||||
| 8/21/01- Took the car to the shop. Rising Sun was the place that had dont most any work on the car prior. So I decided it would be best to stay with them. and the fact that I didnt know anywhere else. They ran the codes on the ECU and replaced the O2 sensor based on that. They were still not happy with the way the car was running so they asked if they could keep the car overnight. How many Shops do you know that will do that. | |||||||||||||
| 8/22/01- The calls and said that they got the car running and probably better then it has run before. They tried the a new to the car TPS, but that didnt make a difference. They then tried the air contral valve. that make the world of difference. It now would idel in traffic in the hot weather without staleing. Cost to me: O2 sensor $45 Used Air control Valve $150 Total labor for all replaced and checked $165 |

| 10/09/01- Finally I get the car to the shop for something that wasn't actually making the car drive bad. It was just time for a brake job. | |||||||||||||
| 10/12/01- After 2 times of getting the wrong side caliper, my car was finished. I needed a left rear caliper and the shop kept getting in a right rear. Cost to me: Set Front Pads $38 Set Rear Pads $39 Lft Rear Caliper (Reman) $130 Brake Master Cylinder $100 Resurface rotors $45 Labor $160 |

| 10/28/01- Went out for a joy ride late in the evening. Almost home after shifting to the sound of the "shift buzzer" The car wouldnt go in gear. Oh Lord....I broke my car. The clutch pedal was sticking to the floor. Gee I have had this happen to me before. Come on car we are almost home. I somehow go the car in gear. Managed to get it in the driveway and that is where I knew it was gonna be towed from the next day. | |||||||||||||
| 10/29/01-I call the tow truck and after 2 hours of waiting, they finally get to my house. The car gets dropped off at Rising Sun. They call me alittle later at work and tell me the great news. I need a new clutch. And the famous "We need to keep the car overnight" is said. | |||||||||||||
| 10/30/01- I get to pick my once again fixed car up from the shop. New clutch and all. Cost to me: Clutch Kit $225 Some Pilot something seal $3 Rear Engine Seal $12 Synthetic Trans Oil $27 Surface Flywheel $45 Labor $240 I leave the shop with my newly clutched car and have nice smile on my face. I decided my friends house would be a nice for my car to visit after seeing the shop for 2 days. Bad Idea. I pull into her parking lot. She tells me to move my car behind hers. No problem. I get the car backed up in the middle of the street on a very steep hill... The car dies. No prob. New clutch... I'm aloud to stall it. I go to start the car and nothing. Everything was completely dead. There in the middle of the street, on a hill, Michelle who wieghs 110 wet and myself, with a 3000lbs car in the middle of the road. Lovely. We finally get some help pushing this car into a parking space. I call the tow truck. These people are starting to like me. The come, jump start the car, but it dies again in the middle of the street, while trying to see if it will drive. So up on the tow truck it goes. Off to Sears this time. I am pretty sure it just needs a new battery, despite the tow man saying its probably something else. We get to sears... Unload the car.... They tell me its the battery.... Of course it is....I said that didnt I.... heh.... So I decide to go with the cheap battery and drive on... Bad Idea... but that reason will come later. |

| 11/21/01- | |||||||||||||
| 12/18/01- I started to notice on the garage floor something had been leaking .... It wasnt oil ..... It was clearer... I then checked under the hood to find that my slave cylinder has been losing fluid. So off to the shop we go. I tell them about the leak and figure it is the hose since that wasnt replaced when the the master and slave were replaced. I also wanted to finally make that annoying thud go away from the diff mount. Cost to me: Flex Line to slave cyl $16 Fluid $2 Front Diff Mount $121 Labor $$130 |

| ****This is sooo out of date... one of these days when I get a fast connection at home I will get it all up to date... not much as happened with the car in the year 2002, I think I am about to have a lot of need to have the car worked on here in the future, but for right now she is doing as well as can be expected for a car that was autoxed for years. - 5/9/03 | |||||||||||||
| 4/21/04 - ok I figure this will be a quicker easier way to start keeping this part of my site up to date...that is says much on it right now...but in the future it might. Go here |
