The rebuild took a while because I was going to school and could only work on it on the weekends.  My wife was still in the AF so we lived in base housing.  One day my new jeep body arrived fully crated.  I was away at school so the shipper unloaded it in my driveway.  During the week it rained (it does that a lot in Florida despite the sunny rep).  My neighbors were deeply concerned that our new baby grand piano was getting ruined.  They were surprized when a brand new jeep body popped out of the crate when I got home.
Well, I graduated in 82 and the AF called me to active duty in Feb 83.  I dragged my jeep to California.  We played a little in the sand.  After graduation as a Missile Launch Control Officer, also known as a conehead, I was ordered to Minot, North Dakota.  Why not Minot? Freezin's the reason.  But hey -47 does keep out most of the riff raff.
More rebuilds were in order.  I ended up replacing the frame, the original was too far gone.  The rails were packed with tree limbs, rust, and boogered welds.
